Our Hanes Geo Components business helped 29 families in Iron Station, North Carolina, by donating gabions – wire mesh box-shaped baskets filled with aggregate that prevent soil erosion and stabilize slopes – for a new community bridge. Before the bridge, the only way in and out of Iron Station was by crossing a dirt road over a creek prone to flooding. Earlier this year, flooding washed out the culvert, leaving residents cut off from the rest of the world. This wasn’t a new problem for the Iron Station community, as the culvert occasionally washed out and temporary crossings were usually too narrow to allow cars through. Thanks to a multi-agency effort and many volunteers, the Iron Station community has a new bridge and doesn’t have to worry about being stranded when it rains. We are proud of our Hanes Geo Components team for being a part of this effort and for putting people first!

Our team is supporting Leggett & Platt Aerospace at the Farnborough International Airshow this week! ✈️ The airshow is one of the premier shows in the aerospace industry and is held in Farnborough, England – the birthplace of British aviation. Our team designed a stand with 91 square meters of space for the Leggett & Platt Aerospace team to meet with their customers, including four private conference rooms to accommodate various size groups. Our eleventh summer of the Doors Internship Program is underway! Through virtual workshops, our interns work on goal-setting, networking, personal branding, and communication within their fields. We invited our interns to share their experiences this summer. Meet Smyan Muranjan from Overland Park, Kansas! Smyan will be a junior at Purdue University, majoring in computer engineering. Meet Lauren Dowling from Girard, Kansas. Lauren will graduate from Missouri Southern State University at the end of the summer with a major in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. Meet Alex Delmore, Sustainability Intern, from Manitowoc, Wisconsin! Alex recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he majored in conservation biology and environmental studies. He also earned a certificate in sustainability. "I am hoping to achieve a better understanding of the inner workings of corporate sustainability and how to make large companies like L&P more sustainable," shared Alex. "This experience will allow me to leave a lasting impact on making companies and corporations more sustainable so we can ensure that our world is livable for future generations."
