Our April to June update is out now! Here are few highlights: ✨ We share about our newest Thriving Futures partnership with the Pangolin Project. Together, we’re working to support the Indigenous Stewards of Southwest Kenya’s Nyekweri ecosystem. ✨Our all-woman team in Peru worked to begin Legacy Planning in Saniriato, the first community to begin the Thriving Futures process in the Andes-Amazon. ✨We take you to Northern Kenya, where a community health training on maternal and newborn care exemplifies the interconnected nature of Thriving Futures. Check it out to see what building Thriving Futures in partnership with Indigenous communities looked like this quarter: https://lnkd.in/g7JgRP5G

We are so honored to partner with Greenwood Place team, who have been transformative in catalyzing social and environmental justice. Check out their latest Annual Report, featuring how they support community led change at so many levels—it is an honor to be part of this with them. (Our work is shared on page 14 alongside great work by so many others.) #communityofchange https://lnkd.in/dpSiJfTD
We are delighted to share our 2023/2024 Annual Report. Thank you to all our community - clients and grantees - for taking the time to submit responses to our survey. Your feedback forms the heart of our report and will guide us over the coming year. This year, Greenwood Place has achieved a significant milestone… We have surpassed £100M in our directly managed grant-making. In 2017, our first year in business, we oversaw £500K in giving and we have seen our giving grow steadily year on year since that date. Thank you to everyone who has been part of the journey so far. https://lnkd.in/ejgFjm9Q

A recent community health training in Ngilai, Kenya, brought together Community Health Promoters and traditional birth attendants for five days to learn more about maternal and newborn health care. The training came out of the communities’ priority to increase access to health care while supporting Samburu medicine. Thanks to the training, 60 care providers are now better equipped to facilitate maternity care that respects Samburu culture and integrates modern medical knowledge! Check out our latest blog post for an up-close look at the training, which intersects with many aspects of life in Ngilai, from maternal health to cultural resilience and the environment: https://lnkd.in/eZ6sR9gY

The recent case study featuring Legado is part of a larger, multi-year project by The Bridgespan Group to understand the impact of Community-Driven Change and catalyze this approach globally. We’re so honored to be part of this work, and encourage you to have a look: https://lnkd.in/dRRW8RE4 The report has found that when CDC-oriented approaches, like Legado’s Thriving methodology, are used, “programmes saw a significant impact across issues areas, and communities built power and assets that helped them sustain those impacts and build on them, even after implementing organisations stepped into other roles.” We’re proud to be part of the movement to advance conservation and development practices that center local and Indigenous leadership, and agency.
