Lee Health and Cape Coral Hospital recently gathered to remember Candace Smith, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, a cornerstone leader whose legacy will forever be etched in our hearts. ❤️ As Chief Nurse and Operations Executive at Cape Coral Hospital, Candace's tenacity, guidance, and friendship touched countless lives. In an emotional ceremony, colleagues shared stories of her unrelenting spirit, positivity, and profound impact. Some of her closest friends and team members spoke of her boundless energy, mentorship, and unwavering dedication, especially during challenging times like the pandemic and Hurricane Ian. Candace's love for nursing extended beyond the hospital. She taught at Nova Southeastern University, authored educational material with colleagues, served on the boards of the Southeastern Florida-American College of Health Care Executives, Florida organization of Nurse Leaders, and Chaired the State Chief Nursing Officer Council as well as the Florida Nursing Consortium. Most importantly, she inspired hundreds of nurses through her teaching and leadership. We honor Candace's memory and her lasting contributions to our community. She was a mentor, a leader, and a friend to many. Her legacy of compassion and excellence will continue to inspire us all. #LeeHealth #Legacy
