This day not only celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), but it also highlights the importance of accessibility and disability inclusion, in and out of the workplace. New research reveals that employee responses to #DEI initiatives go beyond the simple categories of “supporters” and “resistors.” The four distinct profiles of employee responses are: — Excited supporters: they look forward to new DEI initiatives and are actively engaged — Calm compliers: they may comply and respect DEI initiatives but refrain from taking a leading role or advocating further — Torn shapers: they might support the rationale behind DEI but have issues with their company’s initiatives or execution — Discontented opponents: they fundamentally oppose the idea of DEI initiatives and may use both covert and open protest or criticism Since there’s no one-size-fits-all approach, leaders should tailor their approach to engage effectively with each group and improve DEI outcomes. #Diversity #Equity #Inclusion #Leadership

That's a wrap on two LCLD Fellows and Pathfinders Regional Meetings in two weeks! In NYC, the 2024 classes practiced Active Listening with Sartaj N. and discussed some cultural fluency scenarios with MaLora McCullough. LCLD President Robert Grey was there to open the event, as was LCLD Alum Natalie Reid. This was all while networking in the beautiful space overlooking Hudson Yards at LCLD Member firm Debevoise & Plimpton. Less than a week later, those in the Southern Region were in Hot-lanta (and boy did it earn it's name) at LCLD Member firm Alston & Bird. They were given practical tips on cultural fluency with LCLD favorite Kori S. Carew, Esq. (She/Her/Hers) and then heard from Atlanta's own Cobb County Superior Court Judge Sonja Natasha Brown and 2018 LCLD Alum Lisa Collins. These meetings in the middle of summer take a village to plan and LCLD would like to thank Della Sabessar, Kylie Kreitz, Derin Dickerson, and the amazing staff at both host firms. Next stops for #LCLDNation - Chicago and San Francisco in August!

Data from 247 firms shows that women made up 28 percent of all partners, 50 percent of all associates, and 42 percent of all “other” attorneys, revealing a concerning attrition rate in the legal talent pipeline. However, there is a silver lining: firms with a higher percentage of women associates also have more women equity partners. #WomenInLaw #LegalDiversity #LegalTalent https://bit.ly/3Wfzs0W

When asked how the legal profession could improve #MentalHealth, attorneys suggested starting with better management practices. “Partners are rarely, if ever, good managers of people,” one lawyer said. Suggested changes included 360-degree feedback for partners, emotional intelligence training, and general leadership training. #Leadership #EmotionalIntelligence #WellBeingInLaw https://bit.ly/45Wd3sK
