With the 24 hour news cycle hammering bad news again and again and again if you are anything like me you are probably seeking inspiration Well today I feel incredibly inspired 7 pick up trucks 5 trailers 15 volunteers Under the leadership of the legendary Brian Andrews all rolling up to their sleeves to move the furniture for the John Gullo Home for Children out of storage and into this world class facility that will provide a temporary home for kids whose parents are experiencing a medical crisis. It takes a village and what an incredible village this is! Special thanks also to the good people at YachtAid Global for their consistent generosity and support I love you all.

The appliances are in! Furniture will be delivered and assembled next week. YOU did this. Americans & Canadians & Mexicans Jews & Christian’s & Muslims & Atheists Gay & Straight Black & White Republicans & Democrats & Independents YOU …. Painted, Cleaned, Donated, Liked, Shared, Asked Questions, Shared concerns … YOU did this! I’m so proud to have played my part and I’m so proud of the part you played too. It’s remarkable what we can accomplish together! Truly! Thank you 🙏 What started as a request from the community has manifested and just look at the John Gullo Home for Children right now. A temporary home for children whose families are experiencing a medical crisis - Poverty has increased by over 200% in Mexico - The leading causes of death are childhood leukaemia and breast cancer This world class facility will protect vulnerable children in their time of need …and it’s because of you. Asking for money can be difficult and uncomfortable but that’s one of my responsibilities here at Leaders2Give. We’ve hosted private and public fundraiser parties at houses and restaurants, silent auctions, live auctions, events with live music, wine parties and more. We even recently surveyed our incredibly generous donor community and overwhelmingly we were told to “just ask” when it came to fundraising and so … humbly…im asking. Construction at the John Gullo Home for Children is coming to an end. We are now turning our focus to the funds needed for operations. To run the facility for a year we estimate it will cost around $105,000 USD $60k - staff $45k - cost of living (food, utilities, school etc) So …. I’m asking … for your help. Two generous donors have so far pledged a combined $35k. We need to get to a minimum of $105k to reach out goal - and I’m asking for your help. Incredibly inspiring photos coming in from the John Gullo home for children today thanks to Hector Boirie & Phyllis Newton We are soooooo close to completing construction Another another couple of weeks to finish. Cement collars around buildings and ramps are the biggest jobs in motion. Notice the security cameras and internet antenas in place thanks to the generosity of Cody Garett Mills ! Once construction is complete we will install the appliances, assemble the furniture, complete the permit application process and hire the staff who will the operations from day to day and we are on track to open our doors to vulnerable children this fall. Ofcourse our next big hurdle is raising the funds to sustain operations. Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who have given so generously so far and to our all volunteer Board of Directors without whose support this simply wouldn’t be possible. You inspire me! Isn’t is amazing when a plan comes together? The Leaders2Give at UCLA chapter applies for a grant to help support and protect vulnerable children in #Mexico. Grant is awarded The team puts together personal hygiene kits to be distributed to the children now living at New Creation Kids - Nueva Creaçion Niñas and soon to be living at the John Gullo Home for Children But how to get them from campus in Los Angeles to Baja Just ask? Enter Melissa Fujimoto and Rusty. Boxes are picked up. Driven 1000 miles to Los Barres where they are sorted. Some stored thanks to Phyllis Newton and others delivered with love and joy Thank you for your leadership my dear friends Today is a good day !!

On behalf of the Board of Directors and our generous donor community I’d like to say a very heartfelt thank you to Charleen Fariselli, CPA for volunteering to help with food distribution at New Creation Kids - Nueva Creaçion Niñas Leaders2Give does not manage nor operate New Creation Kids. We are not solely responsible for the facility. New Creation Kids is a temporary home for children whose families are experiencing a crisis. New Creation is an organization of several facilities that treat addition in adults and provide shelter for kids. They have locations in Tijuana, across Mexico and even in Costa Rica. The home is run by Roberto and Alma Osuno. I have worked with them for over a decade and I believe in the work they do What we do here at Leaders2Give is advocate, recruit volunteers to engage in hands ok work at the facility in compliance with our mission as a registered US 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and we raise funds in order to provide some support for their monthly operational expenses. We provide a monthly budget for food, water delivery, propane, school uniforms, books and tuition and sometimes we engage in capital improvement projects (ie: solar system, water infrastructure etc) Many other organisations also provide support. We do not coordinate that support nor oversee it.
