Cloud connectivity is impacted when major submarine cables suffer cuts. 🌩 Doug Madory reports that connectivity has been restored after multiple months of outages due to the SMW-5 cable cut.
At 11:00 UTC on June 28th, SMW-5 was fully restored after 2+ months of outage. On April 19, the SMW-5 submarine cable system experienced a cut in Indonesian waters leading to increased latencies for rerouted traffic. https://lnkd.in/eQ3DfRRN Cloud providers experienced increased latencies on many Asia-EMEA routes, as captured by Kentik cloud connectivity metrics. https://lnkd.in/ePF6e3Qd
