Keep a Child Alive (KCA) and MIF funding supports 100 girls in Ntchisi and Zomba Rural who started in Year 1 on 11 September 2023. Manley’s Story! Manley is a beneficiary of Zoe Empowers, a KCA partner. After losing both of his parents, Manley moved away to live with his aunt and uncle. But they mistreated him and eventually kicked him out. So he returned home to his rural village in Zimbabwe, only to learn that other relatives had taken his family’s land. Life was a continual struggle for Manley but when he was 19 years old, he discovered Zoe Empowers. First he received training on how to stay safe and healthy, protect his rights, and how to run his own business. Next he received a small grant to get started. He began raising and selling livestock and later diversified his income by selling groceries and clothing. Manley had always loved school and dreamed of attending college, but he never thought it would be possible. However, due to him learning how to budget and save in his empowerment group, Manley could afford college tuition. In 2020 Manley received his Bachelor of Science from Midland State University and in 2023, his journey came full circle when our Zimbabwe staff hired him as a program facilitator!
