Building forward-thinking ventures dedicated to positive impact on people and the planet.

About us

Just Business is an investment firm with a vision to redefine business practices in the global economy. We invest in seed and early-stage companies with social impact values, and help them be successful as they scale. Founded in 2006, Just Business began by incubating the non-profit Not For Sale as a response to human trafficking and labor exploitation and has continued to invest in and incubate profitable and forward-thinking ventures dedicated to positive impact in the world. We believe that mission-based enterprises and for-profit business models can be symbiotic. This intersection of purpose and profit – bringing dignity to people and the planet – enables our best shot at systemic, global change toward inclusion and sustainability. An ecosystem of ventures clustered around positive social change creates synergy that can elevate all member enterprises to faster growth and larger impact. We think of this as a next-generation keiretsu – a set of companies with intersecting missions, interlocking business relationships, and mutually beneficial shareholdings. Our team brings a unique mix of business and social impact acumen to its ventures, with more than 50 years of collective leadership experience from start-ups to Fortune 500 multinationals, in diverse sectors ranging from consumer products, environmental sustainability, engineering, transportation, media, software, hardware, fashion to e-commerce. The core team at Just Business and its extended international network have cultivated a focused portfolio of enterprises designed to mutually strengthen financially and impact outcomes by prioritizing hands-on collaboration over passive portfolio investing.

Marking a major milestone in the commercialization of our Tonopah Flats Lithium Project, we are pleased to announce that we’ve received our $57 million contract award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) U.S. DOE for our multi-year project to design, construct, and operate our first-of-kind commercial-scale lithium hydroxide manufacturing facility in Tonopah, Nevada. With bi-partisan support from our Nevada elected officials, the Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED)'s, our project partners and Tonopah civic leaders, Team ABTC continues to make strides to sustainably unlock untapped domestic lithium resources for the U.S. clean energy transition. “I’m proud to support the Nevada businesses and workers who are mining, processing, and recycling the critical minerals necessary to grow our clean energy economy,” said Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. “This program I established will deliver funding to create new jobs in our state, bolster our lithium supply chain, and help drive our sustainable future.” “As we continue towards a clean energy future, it’s important that Nevada leads the way by bolstering domestic energy manufacturing and creating jobs,” said Senator Jacky Rosen. “I’m thrilled the American Battery Technology Company is receiving the funding I helped secure through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law so that Nevada can continue to lead the nation in battery manufacturing.” “Congratulations to the American Battery Technology Company for your contract with the Department of Energy,” said Congressmen Steven Horsford. “I am pleased to support investments in our mining and manufacturing sector, creating jobs and boosting our local economy. I am proud of Nevada's work to lead our nation in the area of battery manufacturing, and this project is a testament to the potential that we have in the Silver State.” “This project is an exciting opportunity for the American Battery Technology Company and our entire state,” said Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo. “Not only does this project represent a milestone in our efforts to diversify our state’s economy, but it highlights how companies are leading the way in new technology and innovation right here in Nevada.” https://brnw.ch/21wCkun
