Junior Achievement’s purpose is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy.

About us

Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan (JA) empowers young people to own their economic success. JA is a partnership between the business community, educators and volunteers — all working together to inspire young people to dream big and reach their potential. JA’s hands-on, experiential programs teach the key concepts of work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy to young people. Last year, more than 61,000 kids ages K-12th grade were engaged in Southeastern Michigan by JA programming. These programs include professional business volunteers entering the classroom, job shadows, and interactive budget management at Quicken Loans Finance Park. • It's summer, but learning never stops at JA! This week we provided financial literacy information to students taking part in Metro Detroit Youth Day's 40th annual celebration on Belle Isle. The event organized by the Michigan Youth Appreciation Foundation is billed as the largest youth event in Michigan. There were sports clinics, educational activities, youth guidance, mentors, motivational speakers, entertainment, and the awarding of college scholarships. Over 250 businesses and organizations support the event and Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan was proud to be one of them!!

  • We are grateful to our friends at Encore Capital Group [pictured below with our JA colleagues in San Diego] for a generous investment of nearly $15,000 in Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan. These crucial funds support our work teaching financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship to thousands of students and young adults in our community. When Encore Capital Group/MCM announced a national partnership with Junior Achievement, employees took part in a giving campaign raising funds that were distributed to JA locations where a majority of their team members work and live. We are pleased to be a recipient of a portion of those funds, in addition to $10,000 previously provided to support our work. Partnerships like these enable us to inspire and prepare young people for future success. Thank you from all of us at Junior Achievement of Southeastern Michigan. #financialliteracy #partnerships #WeareEncore
