Helping firms develop outstanding people managers and improve workforce engagement - Keynote Speaker | Trainer | Author

While it's undeniable that putting in extra effort and time is praiseworthy, it's paramount that people managers widen their recognition lens. It's time to acknowledge and reward other ways team members add substantial value to the firm. Think Quality over Quantity: Commend your team members for their high-quality deliverables. Their meticulous attention to detail and refusal to deliver anything less than perfection is a testament to their dedication and their high standardsโ€”not just a reflection of the hours spent. Consider Efficiency: Value the team members who manage their time well and complete the tasks more efficiently. Their time management skills are an asset to the entire team, enabling smoother operations and more time to focus on new projects. Spot Team Collaborators and Communicators: Recognize and appreciate the individuals who actively seek collaborative opportunities. Team spirit matters, and it's these individuals who foster a positive, collaborative culture with their effective communication skills. Itโ€™s them who make the workplace a vibrant, energetic space. Praise Relationship Builders: Celebrate team members who foster strong, lasting relationships with clients. Their outstanding customer service skills not just bring in happy and repeat clients but also create a robust client base for your company. Appreciate Creativity: Reward those who think outside of the box. Innovative ideas and solutions are the catalysts for growth in any business. Creative problem solvers not only tackle issues effectively but also drive innovation, so itโ€™s essential to recognize their unique contributions. Remember, every team member brings different skills to the table. As managers, it is our responsibility to recognize and reward ALL value-adding contributions. Not only does this approach boost motivation and engagement, it also fosters a more balanced, inclusive and productive work culture. https://lnkd.in/ezr-BYin

It was an honor to be interviewed recently by Law360โ€™s Anna Sanders for a story on how law firm leaders can embrace engagement to end burnout. We had a great conversation about why law firms are particularly vulnerable to burnout and how remote work requires intentional communication, leadership, and opportunities to connect with colleagues. Anna also asked about Joychieverโ€™s Hierarchy of Engagement, which was developed after a deep dive into models like Gallup, Gartner, Harvard Business Review, and Deloitte. Our version was developed as a way for leaders whose business models thrive on client service to have a framework to create engagement in high-demand environments. As I shared with Law360, โ€œThe idea is to give folks a framework to identify where there might be areas of distress or unrest and to leverage that to understand what people truly want the most. Itโ€™s trying to identify the root cause of high engagement or low engagement.โ€ Subscribers to Law360 can access the full article online here. https://lnkd.in/egc3RZYZ

Iโ€™m grateful to Law.com for another opportunity to contribute to our important conversation on engagement. In an article published on January 9, we explain why well-being and engagement are not interchangeable terms; they are distinct but interconnected pillars of a thriving work environment. Wellness initiatives are undoubtedly valuable and have gained traction in recent years, and while these initiatives can contribute positively to a law firmโ€™s culture, they only scratch the surface of the larger issue at hand. To truly unleash the potential of a high-performing team, engagement is just as vital as wellness. By digging deeper, law firms can build a work culture that promotes well-being, stimulates engagement, and sets the stage for success.   Subscribers to Law.com can read the complete column here. https://lnkd.in/ejcJ5nKz

Helping firms develop outstanding people managers and improve workforce engagement - Keynote Speaker | Trainer | Author

Would you rate your partners or business professionals as top-tier when it comes to people management? A study by Gallup reveals that over 50% of managers donโ€™t believe they possess the skills to be great. Without these skills, high levels of engagement, retention, productivity and profitability at your firm are in jeopardy. If not addressed, you perpetuate an environment where the blind lead the blind. So, whatโ€™s the way out, you ask? Introducing Joychieverโ€™s Leading with Impact Cohort Program. This publicly-available, comprehensive learning experience will transform management skills within your firm. Picture Sarah, an exceptionally skilled attorney once celebrated for her legal acumen. Slowly, she drifts into disengagement, missing deadlines, and faltering on client delivery. Her descent triggers a domino effectโ€”colleagues are burdened, client satisfaction wanes, and the firm's reputation takes a hit. Eventually, Sarah leaves in a quiet exodus, deepening the cracks in an already fragile workforce. Sound familiar? This is the ripple effect of 'quiet quitting.' ๐Ÿ”— Now, think about the transformative moment an associate is promoted to junior partner. It's not just their achievementโ€”it reshapes team dynamics, adding another layer of complexity. Just as a promotion can act as a reset button on team relationships, a disengaged employee like Sarah hits the 'pause' button on productivity and morale. ๐Ÿ‘€ Why are these scenarios connected? Because both reveal the same truth: each individual in your firm is a linchpin affecting the broader ecosystem. Ignore this, and you set yourself up for a cascade of challenges. โœจ Practical Preventatives: Foster Psychological Safety: Let team members speak their minds without fear. Prioritize Impact and Purpose: Recognize and reward meaningful contributions, no matter how small. Build Trust & Flexibility: Micromanagement doesn't foster commitmentโ€”trust does. ๐Ÿ› ๏ธ How to Prepare for the Unpredictable: Prepare your managers to adapt and pivot with each promotion or shakeup. Learn how to identify and execute customized approaches that tackle unique strengths and challenges. When a Sarah decides to 'quietly quit,' it's often too late to salvage the damage. But, a well-trained, adaptable management team that focuses on individual needs can recognize signs of disengagement early. The goal? Reignite that spark before a pause becomes a stopโ€”ensuring that each promotion is a catalyst for growth, not a stumbling block. Disengagement is often a silent alarm before an overt crisis. The antidote isn't a one-size-fits-all strategy but a dynamic, nuanced approach that zooms in on individual nuances. Your firm's success isn't just about keeping a team; it's about understanding every player on that team. #Joychiever #EngagementMatters #ManagementTraining #QuietQuitting #LeadwithImpact
