Telehealth clinics are revolutionizing access to specialized care, especially in rural communities. This recent evaluation of neurosurgery telehealth clinics highlights the critical role of nurse navigators, who assist patients before, during, and after their appointments. Conducted in a rural hospital with remote physician consultations, the study found that 86% of patients were satisfied with the clinic's quality, comparable to in-person visits. Additionally, telehealth clinics saved patients a staggering 10,785 km in travel. These findings underscore the importance of nurse navigators in enhancing patient experience and accessibility. Continued evaluation of their role is essential to further improve telehealth services. Read More: https://lnkd.in/eCSt57Rw #Telehealth #RuralHealth Laura Cooley, PhD Sage

Patient-centered care is a core value in healthcare, yet its implementation in inpatient psychiatry often falls short. Researchers fielded a national survey exploring patients' suggestions for improving inpatient psychiatric care. From 510 participants, 10 critical themes emerged including personalized care, empathetic connection, communication, structural environment, and more. These suggestions underscore significant gaps in current care practices. By addressing these key aspects, we can bridge the gap between current practices and the ideal patient-centered care environment, ensuring that patient voices drive meaningful change in psychiatric care. #MentalHealth #HealthcareImprovement Download the full article for free: https://lnkd.in/eUeBTwhc Laura Cooley, PhD Sage
