Jorja Emerson was born with an extremely rare chromosome abnormality called q43q44 deletion. This condition has debilitating side effects, which include intractable epilepsy. In the early stages, Jorja was incorrectly diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease. Her family were told that she would not survive and there was nothing more that could be done for her yet 8 years after the correct diagnosis, Jorja is well & thriving. #intractableepilepsy #epilepsy #CBPM #healthcare

November 1st is a significant date for the lives of people who suffer from chronic conditions that cannabis helps to manage. On this date, 5 years ago, Sajid Javid, who was the Home Secretary, announced that the laws surrounding cannabis were to be changed and cannabis was to be available as a medication. This was good news to patients all over the U.K., finally their medication would be available legally. This was also fantastic news to various parents turned campaigners, as their children’s cannabis oil medication would finally be available through the NHS. Sadly, this was not the case as the NHS refused to prescribe cannabis oils with THC, due to no UK product trials having been undertaken. Only 3 children were prescribed CBMP’s, the rest had to obtain this through costly private prescriptions. Jorja is unfortunately one of “2018’s Forgotten Children”. Her life depends on the cannabis oil medication that her father and others worked so hard to legalise. The Jorja Healthcare Group has been set up by Jorjas father, Robin Emerson, dedicated to all patients, like Jorja, that rely on innovative medication like Medical Cannabis. No patient, child or family should have to suffer. At the Jorja Healthcare Group, we are committed to ensuring all our patients are cared for, listened to and have the option of cannabinoid medications. We are supporting and joining End Our Pain at their event in Parliament on Wednesday 8th November. They are calling for a reimbursement scheme to help families, like Jorja’s, pay for their children’s life-saving cannabis oil medication. We will be meeting with MPs, Patients and Intractable Epilepsy Charity to join together to help support this campaign.
