💡 Automated programs and GenAI are revolutionizing the cybersecurity industry. The traditional 🕵️♀️ “detect and respond” 🕵️♂️ approach - identifying and fixing breaches leads to what the author of this article calls a 🥊 “Whack-a-Mole” 💥 approach that is reactive, not preventative. Automated programs and GenAI support cybersecurity experts in analyzing vast amounts of threat intelligence data to identify root causes and fix vulnerabilities in code before attacks occur – shifting to prevention, minimizing the need for post-breach remediation, and lowering “detect and respond” fatigue. 🤕 Joint Tactics and Technologies supports customers across NAVWAR, Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific and Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic in developing active, automated approaches to cybersecurity. ⭐ Great news for cybersecurity! ⭐ 68 of the leading software companies have pledged to build security into their products from the start, instead of bolting it on as an afterthought. This is a critical step in protecting systems from the ever-increasing threat of hacking. CISA Director Jen Easterly spoke about the importance of secure software, highlighting the dangers posed by hacking campaigns. The companies have agreed to seven goals in the pledge, including: ✅ Using more multi-factor authentication ✅ Reducing the use of default passwords ✅ Providing better security tools for developers Joint Tactics and Technologies assists federal agencies with all phases of Information Assurance and Authorization and Accreditation (A&A) including testing, analysis, and mitigation. Many in the #dib have been targeted by spoofed emails that look legitimate - often using social engineering tactics to attempt to gain access to company's payroll, personnel, and proprietary information. They can frequently be spotted by checking the email address' domain name. Other spearfishing campaigns exploit publicly available information and improperly configured DMARC policies to slip through defenses. This article discusses how North Korea exploits weaknesses in legitimate domain names to pose as trusted users and gain access to documents, research, and communications. Joint Tactics and Technologies' broad knowledge of cyber threats, and the protection of sensitive data infrastructures, assists our customers in staying ahead of increasing cyber threats. #cybersecurity #cybercrime #NIST
