This week, Monica Daniels wrote a thoughtful piece on how Saltbox is a great 3PL alternative for growing brands. 📦 Finding a solution for shipping and fulfillment as a new or growing ecommerce brand can be difficult. For a long time, entrepreneurs were destined to ship from home or make the stark jump to a 3PL provider. At Saltbox, we're on a mission to give small businesses access to the space they need to ship, work, create, and grow their business. If large enterprises have a choice between self-fulfillment and a 3PL, then so should small businesses. Learn why Saltbox is the perfect 3PL alternative for small businesses in the full post here 👉 https://lnkd.in/efKQ4dbu #smallbusiness #entrepreneurs #logistics #ecommerce #warehousing

Meet Lynn Osei, MBA! She's a rockstar Location Manager at our Alexandria, Virginia location and recently completed her MBA at Syracuse! ____ 👋🏾 Hey, I'm Lynn, the Location Manager at Saltbox Alexandria! I'm excited to share my latest achievement—completing my MBA at Syracuse University while managing Saltbox Alexandria. My journey toward an advanced degree started right after finishing my bachelor's degree in 2015. In 2022, while in the last part of my MBA focusing on Marketing and Entrepreneurship, I took on a new role at Saltbox. The pandemic made things tough, leading me to choose fully remote classes with a few trips to Syracuse for special seminars and networking events. Managing Saltbox and being surrounded by inspiring entrepreneurs matched perfectly with what I was studying. This connection made the hard work and long nights a bit easier to handle. Walking across the stage this past May was a proud moment. I not only finished my studies but also grew as a leader at Saltbox, right here in the lively DC metro area. Cheers to pushing through challenges and learning every step of the way! 🌟 #MBAJourney #Leadership #Entrepreneurship #SyracuseAlumni #SaltboxSuccess

Co-Founder & CEO @ Saltbox | Investments, Board Member at Serenbe

I recently had the pleasure of sitting down for an interview with Joe Lonsdale, Palantir Co-Founder and General Partner at 8VC, on his podcast, American Optimist. Our conversation was both fun and thoughtful, covering the lessons learned through our journeys at Palantir Technologies , the impactful work we're doing at Saltbox to support small businesses across the country with logistics, and the promising future of America. A central theme of our discussion was the pivotal role of entrepreneurship and courage in shaping America's future. I highlighted the unique position America holds, with its unparalleled density of entrepreneurially minded individuals from all walks of life. This entrepreneurial spirit, I believe, is the cornerstone of America's future success. However, for our potential to be fully realized, it's crucial that our academic, governing, and business institutions pave the way for entrepreneurship to thrive. Despite the challenges America faces today, my optimism remains unwavering. Through hard work and the willingness to take smart, calculated risks, I am confident we can overcome any obstacle and continue to be the best country in the world for pursuing one's dreams and making a significant impact. So let's continue to celebrate our America's entrpreneurs--big and small--and exhibit the courage to lead through the interesting years ahead. Together, we can ensure a prosperous future for America. Thank, Joe for having me! https://lnkd.in/eBmdqW9v

Our new Senior Content Marketing Manager, Monica Daniels, walks us through her passion for writing, small businesses, and why she chose to get back to her roots in the scrappy start-up environment at Saltbox. ____ Hey there, I’m Monica! 👋 I’m a customer-focused content marketer and to say storytelling is ingrained in my DNA would be an understatement. From a very young age, I realized how much words had the power to transform the world around me. Books were my safe haven, writing poetry helped me express feelings I had a hard time conveying, and I secretly loved writing those essays in English class that everyone else hated (lame, I know). But as I got older and was deciding what to do with my life, I also realized I loved business, entrepreneurship, and marketing. Lucky for me, there would be a way to combine both passions. But the road to get there would be long. 🔃 From big tech to startups and everything in between: After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC (I swear they have more than just fashion design degrees!), I spent the first few years of my career at a medium-sized social media advertising agency and a larger tech company that actually went public during my time there. Despite learning a lot about content marketing at these organizations, I realized something was missing – my entrepreneurial spirit was stifled and I yearned to build something from the ground up. In 2021 I cautiously made the leap to my first startup where I was given free-range to test, learn, and push the boundaries of traditional content marketing methods. Little did I know that this small company would soon be acquired not once, but twice in just under a year, landing me at a larger (and more traditional) logistics company. I believe the key to exceptional content marketing lies in the ability to step outside of your comfort zone to explore new ideas and concepts so I welcomed this unexpected change with open arms. But it eventually left me with that familiar feeling of wanting to be a part of something greater than myself. 🌱 Getting back to my roots (why I chose Saltbox): The main reason I decided to take the leap back into the world of startups is that despite their inherent risks and uncertainties, startups also cultivate a distinctive environment for learning and truly owning your craft. I was specifically drawn to Saltbox due to its palpable energy of innovation and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the world of small businesses. Even more so, its emphasis on supporting local economies and fostering community growth appealed to me as someone who comes from a long line of entrepreneurs, builders, and dreamers. Joining this endeavor allows me to not only pursue my professional goals but also align my values with my work, creating a fulfilling and purpose-driven career path. I’m beyond excited to officially join the Saltbox team and can’t wait to help democratize access to logistics for all 🎉

For International Women’s Day, Katerina Cirilli, our VP of Workspace discusses what she’s learned as a female leader in logistics and her philosophy on leadership at Saltbox. Breaking Through Barriers 🛠️ In the traditionally male-dominated logistics industry, women are increasingly breaking barriers and taking on more leadership roles, which brings a fresh perspective to supply chain management. As a female leader in this field, I have witnessed firsthand the power of diversity in shaping the future of logistics. I have also had the immense honor of working alongside and learning from some of the most brilliant logistics and operations female leaders. Female Leadership Excellence 🌟 The logistics sector is notorious for its fast-paced and complex operations, making it crucial for leaders to possess a strategic vision, adaptability,  and effective communication skills. Almost more importantly, physical logistics is often made up of multi-faceted, large teams, so empathetic and curated leadership is immensely important to achieve results.  From my experience, female leaders often excel in these areas and play a pivotal role in fostering work environments that drive innovation and enhance overall team performance. Diversity Drives Success 🌈 Embracing diversity in leadership not only brings a wealth of varied perspectives but also contributes to more robust and dynamic decision-making processes. The importance of diversity is true everywhere; however, working at a ground-breaking, fast-paced logistics startup, it becomes even more critical. As a female leader, I have found that embracing the unique strengths and point-of-view of each team member has been key in overcoming challenges and driving success. The logistics industry thrives on collaboration and complex problem-solving, and a diverse team can better navigate these challenges, which become intensified at a start-up. Breaking gender stereotypes and fostering an environment where meritocracy prevails ensures that the best ideas rise to the top, which is imperative for business success in this competitive landscape. Championing Gender Equality 🙌 Despite the progress made, it is essential to acknowledge the existing gender disparities in the logistics industry and actively work towards leveling the playing field. Female leaders play a crucial role in mentoring and inspiring women to enter logistics, promoting diversity, and fostering an inclusive workplace. This not only benefits their organizations but also supports the wider movement towards gender equality. Join Us in Making a Difference ✨ As we continue to push the boundaries of what's possible in logistics, the contributions of female leaders are invaluable. This International Women's Day, let's celebrate the achievements and potential of women in logistics. If you're seeking mentorship or wish to connect, I'm here to support your journey. #internationalwomensday2024 #internationalwomensday #femaleleadership #womeninlogistics

For our first highlight from our new Employee Series, Juliana Freitas, our Senior Lead of Marketing and Growth walks us through why she leaped from big tech to startup life at Saltbox! 🚀 Taking the Leap: From Big Tech to Startup Life After years of honing my skills at a large tech company, I made the decision to venture into the startup world at Saltbox. It was a move fueled by a desire for growth, challenge, and a different kind of fulfillment in my career. Today, I'll share why I made this transition and how it has become a cornerstone for my personal and professional development. 🔍 Broadening My Scope: In big tech, I was fortunate to work with some of the brightest minds on projects that reached huge audiences and millions of users. However, my role was often very specialized. Transitioning to a startup, I found myself wearing multiple hats. This shift challenged me to broaden my scope of responsibilities and deepened my understanding of the business from the ground up. Every day is a new learning opportunity, pushing me to grow beyond what I thought was possible. 🌱 Learning and Leading in a Safe Environment: Startups, with their inherent risks and uncertainties, also foster a unique environment for learning and leadership. At Saltbox, I've been able to lead projects, make quick decisions, and see the direct impact of my work. The close-knit team means that support is always there, creating a safe space to try, fail, and learn. This hands-on experience has been invaluable in accelerating my growth and confidence as a young professional. 🚀 Embracing New Challenges: The startup world is dynamic and fast-paced, and every day brings new challenges. While this can be daunting, it has also been incredibly rewarding. I've learned to adapt quickly, think on my feet, and embrace change as part of the journey. 👥 Building with a Small, Mighty Team: Perhaps most importantly, working at a startup has given me the sense of building something meaningful together with a passionate team. The camaraderie and collective drive to succeed have been unlike anything I've experienced before. While the decision to leave the comfort and security of a large tech company was not easy, it has been one of the most rewarding decisions of my career. To anyone considering a similar move, I say: embrace the uncertainty, cherish the learning opportunities, and enjoy the ride. The growth you'll experience is beyond compare. #Saltbox #CareerGrowth #StartupLife #ProfessionalDevelopment #LogisticsLeadership
