Excited to welcome Chris Gaunt, a self-taught engineer and a relentless learner, to the Arbor team! Chris’s passion for acquiring new skills and diving deep into challenges mirrors the dedication and improvisation he mastered as a collegiate and professional jazz musician 🎶 . His journey reflects a deep commitment to learning and growth, traits that are immensely valuable in the fast-paced world of startups. Chris’s dedication to the environment stems from his boyhood experiences in the scouts, engaging in numerous conservation projects. Arbor 🏠⚡ makes a software-based digital energy platform for the modern consumer, making it easy for renters and homeowners to save on energy costs and live more sustainably. CTO Noah Vihinen is hiring lead full-stack, backend, and frontend engineers, along with a lead / founding product designer. They're remote first, with co-working space in Boston. 👉 Check out the full list of roles they are hiring for on ClimateTechList's website here: https://lnkd.in/gX8E_tQu Here are some questions I asked Noah about working at Arbor: ℹ️ What does Arbor do? "Arbor is a digital energy platform for the modern consumer, making it easy for renters and homeowners to save on energy costs and live more sustainably. We monitor the energy market to automatically get you the best electric rate in your area and recommend the most relevant home electrification upgrades. Customers are saving on average $544 per year." 💻 What is the importance of software in this company's success? “Arbor is a consumer-facing climate tech software company. From the internet days, you might think of us as the digital ad server of energy rate matching, efficiently matching residential energy demand with suppliers" 🌎 Greenhouse gas impact- How does this company measure its impact on Climate Change? "Residential buildings and road transport make up 10.9% and 11.9%, respectively, of global greenhouse gas emissions. Arbor aims to accelerate the reduction of emissions in these two buckets by building a digital energy platform for residential consumers, that helps them easily save money on energy by demystifying their usage and making smart energy choices automatic. Today, Arbor’s platform already demystifies energy supply choices for consumers, and helps them adopt cheaper, cleaner energy. Our initial energy-savings robo-advisor product saves consumers money by activating cheaper energy suppliers. Within this flow, they can select clean energy as their source, or a green plan may happen to be the least expensive. Generally this results in REC (renewable energy credit) offsets being purchased by the supplier for the consumer’s electricity consumption. Over time, we'll extend this platform to shift Consumers to Cleaner Energy through the adoption of additional energy technology. We’re excited to announce Peter Ehrlich has joined Arbor as our second full time engineer! Peter is a software engineer and self-proclaimed climate nut.  He has spent most of his past ten years in San Francisco, where he interned at AirBnb (when they were ten people working out of a two-bedroom apartment), built out the machine-learning research platform at Leap Motion (now UltraLeap), and took on many projects at Stripe as they grew from 500 to 8,000 people. After launching Stripe's Credit Card Issuing product in the EU & UK, he took a gap year and got pulled into climate work. In the past year, he's decarbonized his home, become owner/operator of two solar farms in New England, and built out a small community, the Zero Percent Club, around residential decarbonization. At Arbor, he's hoping to increase his impact in helping homeowners run their home more efficiently and cheaply while also reducing their emissions. Welcome to the team, Peter. We are thrilled to have you with us, and excited about the creativity you’ll bring to the team to help demystify energy for consumers, and save them money!
