We bid a fond farewell to our esteemed board member Dietmar Exler as he wraps up his 6 ½ year term on our board of directors. As CEO at Mercedes-Benz USA 2016-2019, Dietmar implemented a sponsorship agreement that would eventually result in over $11 million in donations and some 2,000 scholarships over a 6-year period. If that wasn’t enough, Dietmar also set the example with his personal impact to JMSF each year. Thank you, Dietmar, for your service and immense contributions to our mission and organization!

A huge thank you to Carl Zangardi at Kiskiack Golf Club for hosting Johnny Mac Day on July 11! Carl and golfers were also joined by brothers of our inspiration Jim and Frank. The proceeds from Johnny Mac Day will directly support our mission of giving back through education to military children of our nation's fallen or disabled. 🎥 Brandon Wilson #JMSF #johnnymacsoldiersfund #givingbackthrougheducation #scholarships #militarykids #kiskiackgolfclubjohnnymacday

We're honored and proud to support Isabel! We wish her success as she embarks on her journey as a second grade teacher and furthers her education.
Congratulations to Isabel Rothstein on graduating summa cum laude from Duquesne University with a major in Early Childhood Education and a music minor. Isabel received the Distinguished Student Teaching Award for her outstanding contributions and has amassed valuable experience in childhood development. She has instructed 1st graders as a Religious Education Teacher, served as a nanny for children ranging from infancy to teen, and introduced incoming Duquesne freshmen to student life opportunities. Starting this fall, Isabel will embark on her journey as a 2nd grade teacher while pursuing a Master's in Library Science to fulfill her dream of becoming a school librarian. Isabel's father, Army Second Lieutenant Christopher Loudon, was killed during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2006. Despite the limited time they had together, Isabel cherishes memories such as waking him up with playful banter on Saturday mornings. She reflects, "My dad's service helped children in Iraq have freedoms similar to what I've always had in the United States." Isabel's faith and family have been sources of strength and inspiration throughout her journey. We extend our gratitude to the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund for their invaluable support of Isabel, enabling her educational journey while honoring her father's memory.

We’re thrilled to shine our July scholar spotlight on Reese Carwile. Reese joined us last month at our golf tournament at the West Point Golf Course to meet supporters and share her family’s journey of love and loss. Like so many of our Johnny Mac Scholars, Reese was a very young child when she lost her father, U.S. Army Lieutenant Donald Carwile, Killed in Action on August 15, 2008 in Afghanistan. Lieutenant Carwile was assigned to 1-506th Infantry, 101st Airborne Division. Reese is a senior at the University of Mississippi where she majors in biology with a minor in chemistry. She is enrolled in a pre-physician assistant track with plans to become a pediatric or orthopedic physician assistant. Reese is involved in school organizations, is active at her church, and works as a phlebotomist. We wish Reese a successful senior year at Ole Miss! #JMSF #johnnymacsoldiersfund #givingbackthrougheducation #scholarships #johnnymacscholar #militaryappreciationmonth #scholarspotlight

John’s son David McHugh is 19 years old and a freshman at Enterprise State Community College where he starts on the men's soccer team. He's hoping to major in education and, following his time at ESCC, continue playing collegiate soccer, just like his dad. #JMSF #johnnymacsoldiersfund #givingbackthrougheducation #scholarships #militarykids
