The City of Jacksonville and Mayor Donna Deegan recently hosted JEA Interim Managing Director and CEO Vickie Cavey, along with other community leaders. The guests included the Assistant Secretary of Health for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Deputy U.S. Surgeon General, and the Director of the Office of Climate Change and Health Equity at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. They had a discussion about the city’s efforts to address extreme heat and related health issues. Additionally, the city provided a tour of its cooling center at the Jacksonville Main Library downtown. JEA’s Ryan Popko led a discussion with community members at the most recent Cuppa Jax event. The chat focused on water quality and water treatment process. The EPA has recently added an addendum to the Lead and Copper Rule that was established in 1991. This new guidance, known as the Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR), is designed to ensure the safety of drinking water by addressing the dangers of lead and copper contamination. The LCRR mandates that all public water service providers in the U.S., such as JEA, must inventory all water service lines to determine if they contain any lead or copper. JEA’s project is 70% complete, and we are happy to report that all tested pipes are lead-free. Read more in the feature from Jacksonville Today: https://lnkd.in/ewNF7NkG

It’s always an honor to serve members of Jacksonville’s military community who do so much for us. JEA employee volunteers stepped up as our military spouses stepped out for a night of pampering at the annual Military Spouses Night Out, hosted by the City of Jacksonville Military Affairs and Veterans Department at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. Our volunteers set up a dressing area and prepared over a thousand dresses for attendees. Thanks to all of our military spouses for your service and sacrifices that strengthen our community and nation. 🇺🇸

The JEA drinking water system consists of wells, water treatment plants, the distribution grid of pipelines, and finally to the customer. JEA has 39 water treatment plants dedicated to removing sulfur and preparing the water for consumption.
