Heinz isn't stupid. Both, posh and practical product lines are important here. The second one is infinitely more practical to use and the first one is much more aesthetically pleasing. It's a freaking ketchup. Why on earth would anyone NOT choose the most practical one? Well, sure, and the second one does sell more BUT the first one has an interesting function still: It's a tool for price anchoring. The glass bottle costs more than the tube. The way this works is: These two products are usually put side-by-side on the shelves ➡️ you look at the more aesthetically pleasant product first ➡️ notice that it's expensive ➡️ then you look a bit on the side and notice a more practical and budget solution ➡️ and suddenly not even a decision anymore, you take the second one. Additionally, the first product has 2 other functions: 1️⃣ It's a brand marketing tool. You see a bottle like the first one and you KNOW it's Heinz. 2️⃣ It appeals to a more "sophisticated" audience with higher purchasing power. #Positioning #BrandMarketing #CustomerCentricity #CustomerExperience #PricingStrategy
