“Addressing the well-being of leaders has always been part of our work at INP, and we’ve integrated practices throughout our programs to help leaders combat stress and prioritize self-care. But this is a new day, and the challenges facing leaders are like nothing any of us have ever experienced. If we do not act swiftly, we risk losing some of the sector’s most talented and proximate changemakers – and preventing emerging leaders from pursuing careers in the sector altogether. Through the Well-being Initiative, we have the opportunity to learn more about what is causing people to burnout and leave the sector, and what is helping them feel whole and stay the course, and we can share this information and other promising practices with the INP community and beyond.” – Yolanda Coentro (She/Her), INP President & CEO At INP, we launched our Well-being Initiative last fall to address the rising levels of burnout, turnover, and workforce shortages within our sector. Over the next three years, we’re committed to sharing our research, integrating new practices that promote well-being into INP programming, and amplifying information to help shift practice in service of a healthier, more sustainable sector! Progress Powered by People.
About us
Progress is powered by people and now is the time to invest in yourself and the communities that you serve! Learn more about what we offer for both in-person and virtual programs in locations around the US. The Institute for Nonprofit Practice (INP) works to ensure that you, as the nation’s most promising nonprofit, public sector, and social impact leaders, have the skills, knowledge, networks, and confidence to effectively lead, advance justice, and build a more equitable future for all. INP offers a suite of resources and programs for leaders at all stages in their careers, including equity-focused management and leadership development, community convenings, network building, and robust alumni programming, all designed to build upon the knowledge, financial, and social capital of leaders who are addressing the most significant issues of our time and building the world we all need. Our programs center diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as core parts of everything we do. Currently, 70% of INP faculty, staff, and participants identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color). Behind INP’s nationally-recognized programming to develop leaders and advance their organizational missions is a culture that is thoughtful and attentive to its staff and faculty. A strong sense of community and shared values are key aspects of what make working at INP unique. After nearly 15 years of success in the Northeast, INP has now expanded to meet the need and demand for equity-focused capacity leadership development across the country. With sites in the Northeast, Midwest, and West Coast, INP now serves a network of more than 6,500 social impact leaders from over 1,000 distinct organizations annually. "BLI has been a transformative experience thus far. It has provided a platform to connect with like-minded individuals and have difficult conversations that are important to me and my community. Through the workshops and intentionally curated experiences I have gained knowledge, insight, and perspectives that have shaped my approach to leadership and advocacy. BLI has helped me develop into an even stronger and more confident leader. I am grateful for the opportunity and support I have received from BLI. BLI is curated with love and intention for today's Black leaders." – Reggie Jean, Haley House, Black Leadership Institute, Boston We are proud to have Reginald among the #INPBLI community and are currently accepting applications for our next Black Leadership Institute cohort, beginning in January 2025!
