Collaboration and relationships make all the difference. Last week in Melbourne, it was wonderful to meet with Tiffany Boughtwood and Monica Ferrie, and we even had time for a fun group photo 📸 🤩 Our longstanding collaboration with Australian Genomics allows us to address key issues directly and take a coordinated approach between research and industry. This visit was also significant as it was the first time our CEO met our Consumer Advisory Group (CAG) Chair, Monica Ferrie in person. Monica is a powerhouse and a super connector in genomics and consumer lived experience. We discussed the next steps for our CAG and solidified our shared commitment to a collaborative approach with consumers. We are fortunate to have these trusted relationships, which are crucial for making a difference and accelerating the adoption of healthcare innovations to benefit patients' lives. Looking forward to the impact we will create together. #genomics #precisionmedicine #consumerlivedexperience #innovation #healthcareinnovation

Accelerating access to human genomics needs to go hand in hand with equity. At InGeNA we the back the importance of equitable access of genomics for all Australians. The World Health Organization held their first regional Expert Meeting on Accelerating Access to Human Genomics for Public Health took place in Manila, Philippines in April. They brought together experts from national genomic initiatives and included Tiffany Boughtwood from Australian Genomics. The meeting highlighted the need to raise awareness of the benefits and risks of human genomics. There is a growing number of engaging public materials being produced. Additionally the work in the West Pacific highlight the overwhelming recognition of the stark lack of diversity in large-scale international human genomic initiatives, with far smaller inclusion of those coming from less-resourced countries and underrepresented groups. This limits the ability to derive equitable benefits from genomic medicine and presents potential negative consequences The meeting insights underscore the multifaceted nature of the opportunities and challenges in accelerating access to human genomics for public health in the Western Pacific Region. They highlight the need for coordinated action at the national, regional, and global levels to realize the transformative potential of human genomics.
