At today’s Freedman’s Bank Summer Symposium, Self-Help Credit Union highlighted their work in supporting access to affordable childcare through small business lending, an outstanding example of the incredible impact of $2.2 billion in Emergency Capital Investment Program (ECIP) investments in community development credit unions. Treasury’s 2023 Investing for Impact Report released today shows that CDCUs that received ECIP investments made more than $4.3 billion in deep impact loans, reaching the most underserved people and communities in 2023, and made an additional $6.1 billion in loans benefitting low- and moderate-income people and communities as well as people and communities of color. For more on CDCUs and ECIP, check out Cathi Kim’s piece (https://ow.ly/HgKe50SAL9h) in CUES CU Management highlighting the work of two high-impact CDCUs and how ECIP helped them deepen their impact in their communities. Championing financial inclusion since 1974. Celebrating 50 years!
About us
At Inclusiv, we believe that true financial inclusion and empowerment is a fundamental right. Every day, we dedicate ourselves to closing the gaps and removing barriers in financial opportunities for distressed and underserved communities. We face these challenges head-on by providing capital, making connections, and developing innovative products and services for community development credit unions – and working to transform local progress into lasting change at the national level. Success is measured by the results we deliver for our members, and the impact they have on the lives of the people in their communities. Because we know that the right answer at the right time can convert a problem into an opportunity, and an opportunity into impact.

How do our members benefit as members of a CDFI credit union? The CDFI Fund is one of the Federal government's best market-based strategies for leveraging private dollars. CDFIs leverage $12 of private capital for every $1 of public investment. Investing in CDFIs generates billions of dollars annually in the form of loans to create jobs and grow businesses, build homes, increase job mobility, expand access to affordable healthcare and childcare, and create financial capability to expand consumer purchasing power. Inclusiv, the community finance authority for the credit union industry represents over 9 million members in low-income communities across the US. Costco Wholesale is the latest partner to join the Inclusiv Impact Deposits Fund, which invests social impact deposits in community development credit unions to expand economic opportunities and resiliency. Costco’s $3 million commitment to the Inclusiv Impact Deposits Fund will support 12 MDI and CDFI credit unions working in a broad range of both urban and rural communities, including Kauai FCU. “This commitment from Costco demonstrates how corporations can effectively support MDI and CDFI credit unions in serving their local communities to strengthen financial well-being and create economic opportunities. Costco’s deposit will benefit more than 350,000 homeowners, small business owners and households across the country by helping twelve high-impact credit unions grow their affordable financial services and responsible lending. By working with mission-driven partners like Costco, the Inclusiv Impact Deposits Fund is reducing inequalities and building resiliency in historically underinvested communities,” said Cathie Mahon, President/CEO, Inclusiv At Kaua’i FCU, partnerships such as this enable us to grow our loan portfolio and strengthen the social fabric of our community. So that we can be here for you when you need us the most. 💚 Inclusiv Costco Wholesale Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) https://lnkd.in/gxEX7gYm

Inclusiv Applauds FHFA’s Appointment of Alexis Iwanisziw to Inaugural Federal Advisory Committee on Affordable, Equitable, and Sustainable Housing: Inclusiv is proud to announce that Alexis Iwanisziw, Inclusiv’s Senior Vice President of Policy and Communications, has been appointed to the Federal Housing Finance Agency’s (FHFA) inaugural Federal Advisory Committee on Affordable, Equitable, and Sustainable Housing (ACAESH). The Committee will offer advice to FHFA on how Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks can increase access to housing finance and community investment. Alexis will bring Inclusiv member credit unions’ and cooperativas’ deep experience in high-impact mortgage lending to the national conversation on equitable housing finance and will share our perspective as a Community Development Financial Institution working to increase access to affordable and sustainable homeownership in historically redlined and other under-resourced communities. We look forward to working with FHFA and colleagues on ACAESH to advance equity, increase housing opportunity and support thriving communities through our housing finance system. https://ow.ly/HiVo50St9Hy
