Did you know our social work team delivers fresh food to their client's families? The folks over at Benson Community Rescue drop off fresh fruits and vegetables and our social work team take turns delivering these fresh items to their client's families. Magda, ILC+REC social worker, says, "Access to nutritious food is foundational to a healthy self, oftentimes access to it though can be hard for our clients as there can be many barriers to food pantries too – whether it’s ID requirements or hours. The great thing about our pantry delivery is that we take it to our families’ to their homes and we are able to also check-in with them at time of delivery if they are there.”

Last week, ILC+REC hosted an inspiring employer engagement event, bringing together businesses and our dedicated team to discuss the incredible potential of hiring refugees. Employers learned about the benefits of a diverse workforce and the support available to integrate new team members effectively. We awarded Refugee Employer of the Year to Quality Pork International, Inc. for their easy hiring process and support of hiring refugees. Our Most Engaged New Employer award was a tie between Quality Pork International, Inc. and Dial! Thank you to all who attended and contributed to this meaningful discussion. Together, we can create more inclusive workplaces and provide opportunities for those who need them most.

As we prepare for back-to-school season, hundreds of recently arrived refugee students are as well but many won't have the necessary school supplies they need to be successful students. This back-to-school season, we are partnering with Christ Community Church to participate in this year's CityServe event to collect school supplies. Your support not only helps these young newcomers be successful students but also provides them with the tools to start the new school year confidently. Donate school supplies at our Omaha office at 4223 Center Street or Christ Community Church at 404 S 108th Ave. Our school supplies drive will run July 22 through September 9. Thank you for supporting the families we serve!

It’s official!👏 The Lincoln office is the first time in our agency's history to house staff from all three services, legal representation, refugee services, and social work, under one roof. This is big news so back in April, we pulled out the big scissors and held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate our new, bigger space. 🎉
