Significant variations in medical treatments, even within the same state, challenge the belief that medical care is primarily based on science. On the latest episode of Turn on the Lights podcast, Don and Kedar are joined by Dr. Rita Redberg, a Professor of Medicine at UCSF Health, for an examination of the belief that medical care is based primarily on science by discussing significant variations in treatment practices and advocating for evidence-based medicine. Dr. Redberg addresses issues like unnecessary procedures motivated by fear of litigation or financial incentives and strongly calls for removing conflicts of interest from scientific trials and enhancing NIH funding to promote independent research. Tune in and learn about the importance of evidence-based practices in health care and the steps needed to ensure safer, more effective patient care: https://lnkd.in/dF5dxJ77 Turn on the Lights Podcast is also available on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you get your podcasts.

Posencheg, MD, Associate Chief for Clinical Affairs, Division of Neonatology and Medical Director of Clinical Effectiveness at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “It answers the second question in the Model for Improvement, which is, how will you know the change is an improvement?” he noted.
