Raleigh MOVE Maintenance team, I want to offer my very personal THANK YOU for the work that was done this week on MOVE-1 and MOVE-2. We accomplished a huge amount of difficult and important tasks over 3 days. MOVE-1 got turned around in two days for a return trip to Texas. Amazing work. This included a full PM on truck and generator as well as fixing some issues. Then MOVE-2 got new 5G cellular equipment and new antennas which was a huge job, made changes to the engineering console, installed ADS/B capability, and cleaned up a lot of rack wiring!!!! This was all accomplished in extremely hot/humid conditions!!! Thank you individually for your time and skills! Note that this team not only takes care of the “trucks”, but the generators, satellite systems, cellular systems, radio systems, and other miscellaneous parts and pieces. Without you guys we would not have a program. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! About us
A Global IEEE Program Natural disasters can severely impact individuals, families, and communities around the world. The restoration of electricity and communications is often of primary importance during these challenging times because when power and connectivity is lost, people go without lights and the ability to access technology and a primary means of communication. IEEE MOVE is primarily a Mobile Emergency Relief Program The MOVE program is committed to assisting victims of and responders to natural disasters with short-term communications, technology, and power solutions. These temporary emergency relief provisions help people stay connected and ensure access to the help they need. Services include internet service, charging stations, and lighting resources. MOVE also provides STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) Education Outreach When not deployed for disaster relief efforts, the IEEE MOVE vehicle is taken to schools, fairs, and other venues to educate the public, showcase, leading technologies, and raise awareness about the positive impact these technologies have on society.

Special thanks to the IEEE MOVE Maintenance team in Raleigh for some outstanding work the last 2 days. In excessive heat, the team made repairs and general preventive maintenance to MOVE-1, Installed new 5G equipment on MOVE-2, as well as making major changes to the MOVE-2 engineering console. David Wright , Tim Forrest, Tad Taylor, Dan Fuccella, and Grayson Randall spent 2 long days in the heat to make sure the MOVE trucks are in top condition to deploy. IEEE MOVE supplies power and communications at disasters. Having equipment in top condition is required for successful deployments into harsh environments move.ieeeusa.org #ieeehtb #ieeeusamove #IEEEFoundation #IEEE #ieeeusa

New Mexico Wildfires - Tuesday Day 11 This morning we worked closely with Red Cross DST to transfer network responsibility to the disaster operation. Great working relationship. We were then able to depart the disaster operation. As we left Ruidoso we passed through the burn scan. Some pictures are attached. Over 1400 buildings burned in the fires. We are taking MOVE-1 back to Raleigh NC for some maintenance and upgrades. We got to Amarillo TX today and will stay here tonight. Will update everyone when we arrive home. Watching hurricane Beryl... will it be our next deployment??? Stay safe and have a hurricane plan. Even if you do not live on the coast, most hurricane related deaths are from inland flooding. Make sure you have a family plan. Thank you everyone for all your support for the MOVE program! Don't forget that the MOVE program operates on generous donations from people like you. Help us continue to provide power and communications at disasters. move.ieeeusa.org #ieeehtb #ieeeusamove #IEEEFoundation #IEEE #ieeeusa

New Mexico Fires - Sunday Day 9 Helped with some tech issues setting up a printer and laptop. Had a meeting with local Red Cross DST team to discuss a transition plan. Mid afternoon we had a thunderstorm that dropped 2 inches of rain. There was a flash flood emergency (again today) with flooding and water rescues. Red Cross volunteers were told to stay in place.IEEE team is high and dry sleeping in the truck. Even with all the activities... we still delivered internet services to everyone at this base camp shelter. The fire picture was taken by fire fighters just over 1 week ago. MOVE truck is currently parked in the same location just a few feet from where the fire picture was taken. IEEE MOVE continues to support internet for Red Cross operations as well as for public use. Have met many local residents displaced by the fires that need internet connectivity. move.ieeeusa.org #ieeehtb #ieeeusamove #IEEEFoundation #IEEE #ieeeusa

New Mexico Fires - Monday Day 3 A very busy day today. Bill Guzek and I slept in the truck overnight. We have bunks, A/C, internet, and power. Got a hot shower at the shelter. We got an early morning call to relocate to Ruidoso NM to assist with the setup of a large 500 person shelter. We traveled through 2 police checkpoints and traveled through some of the burn area to get to our new location. We are providing internet services to the Red Cross and others here at the shelter campus. Expect to continue our services here tomorrow. move.ieeeusa.org #ieeehtb #ieeeusamove #IEEEFoundation #IEEE #ieeeusa
