🧪🧪Struggling with donation page growth? This donation page A/B testing guide is for you. 🧪🧪 You website is (probably) the primary place that donors go to find more info about your mission. But, here's the problem. Most nonprofits don't have the insight/tools/help to continuously optimize their donation forms and pages. Which leads to less-than-ideal giving experiences for donors 😬 And missed donations 📉 But, with A/B testing, nonprofits can continually refine the giving experience, ensuring that donation pages are truly donor-centric (and high performing). So, our team put together a guide that's designed to help you start your experiment journey (while not ruining the momentum your donation paths already have). Here's what's covered ⤵️ ➡️ The basics of donation page A/B testing ➡️ How to get your first donation page experiment running ➡️ How to measure results + select winning variants There's no time like the present to get started on your A/B testing journey - and we're always down to be your trusted lab partner. Friendly reminder: there's SO many factors when it comes to a high-performing nonprofit websites. Yes, most of the time we focusing on the donor conversion (aka the donation), but that's often times a later part of a donor journey. Thankfully, Dana Snyder is on a mission to help nonprofits get the most from their website and outlined 5 key website data points every nonprofit needs to be paying attention to. Here's 3 that jumped out to us from her list: #1 - Traffic Sources: Understanding how people found your website is key to knowing what's working, what's not, and where to put focus on. #4 - Session Length: How do you get people to stick around on your site longer? Tell more authentic, engaging stories and provide content that's high-value and focused on a diverse media mix (videos, text, images) #5 - Conversion Rate: yeah, we know. This was a no-brainer for us as this what we focus on. But, the truth of the matter is that the conversion rate is often time the lagging indicator of the success of the other aspects of a successful optimization of your nonprofit website. There's a lot more covered in this blog, so make sure to bring your digital notebook and get ready to copy/paste away. You can give Dana's latest blog a skim here --> https://lnkd.in/ez9z66H2

Who needs a funnel when you can have a mountain to climb? ⛰️ Nathan Hill from NextAfter was giving us more life when he broke down that the donor journey is best looked at as a mountain climb over the oft-used funnel analogy. Why is that? Let's break this down. Nathan shared that as marketers and fundraisers, growth is often looked at as fueled by adding more donors to the top of a funnel. On average, this represents a 13% conversion rate on average. That's great... right? Not if you consider the remaining 87% of people are leaving a donation page without converting. To Nathan's point, if we turn that traditional funnel into a mountain from our POV, that means we are always on a mission to climb to the peak of donation conversion. Getting 1% better each time we intentionally test new ideas and strive to produce the best donation page experience possible. If there's one thing to take away from last week's donation page optimization session with Adam O'Brien and Nathan Hill, it's this: When in doubt, test it out. 🧪 Want to know if a certain gift array layout will increase your average gift size? Test is out. 🧪 Curious if a more detailed value proposition will impact conversion rates? Test it out. 🧪 Itching to find out if using a tabbed approach for donation frequency will help drive recurring donations? Test it out. There's a lot of tools that you can use to do A/B testing for your donation page - but, let's be honest, no one wants to have to manage (or pay for) ANOTHER tool. Thankfully, we got you covered - we built A/B testing right into our platform. No extra plugins. No extra contracts. No science degrees needed, either. But don't take our word for it. Test out our A/B module (see what we did here? ⚗ ) for yourself --> https://lnkd.in/enJS7i8F

You're doing all the right things ✅ to get donors to your donation page - why would you send them somewhere else on your site? Nathan Hill nailed it during last week's LinkedIn Live Donation Page Optimization event 👇 When a potential donor lands on your donation page, the only CTA on that page should be to donate to your mission. That means: 🛑 Don't have your navigation header present - help your donors focus on gaining momentum down the donation page. 🛑 Don't ask to join a newsletter - this can be done in post-donation communications. 🛑 Don't have ads running for different programs - again, save it for post-donation followup. Remember - Rome wasn't built in a day, and a thoughtful donor journey isn't completed in a day either. Focus on a top-notch first giving experience, then lead the way with your other programs to move a one-time donation into lifelong support. You can catch this, and another hour of donation page insights and best practices like this, in the replay of our live event we did with NextAfter last week. Missed yesterday's 🔥 LinkedIn Live Donation Page Optimization🔥 we did with NextAfter? Here's the TL;DR highlights👇 ➡ Make the home page "Donate" button pop: Throw that "donate" button in the top right of your webpage. Make it a high-contrast color to help drive click throughs. Bonus points for a hover-state animation to really catch the eye. ➡ Context around the why of a donation is key: You will never deter a potential donor from converting if you provide context around what their donation helps to provide. Drop this in at the top of your donation page with the value prop for max impact. ➡ Treat donation pages like conversations: Keep the layout of your donation page in a single column and lay out the page like a conversation: > Introduce your mission (value prop) > Provide frequency + method of giving > Grab personal details (only the stuff that's needed!) > Provide payment fields. The name of the game is forward momentum to maximize conversions. If you weren't able to join live, or want to rewatch a specific part, you can catch it on-demand now. 📹 Catch the replay now --> https://lnkd.in/gHvfwv-4

Who doesn't love the convenience of subscriptions? Katelyn Baughan does... and she thinks that nonprofits need to embrace subscription culture, too. Here's why 👇 From Netflix to Costco, the subscription economy is a game-changer. But have you considered how this model can revolutionize your nonprofit's fundraising? Investing in a monthly donor program is a no-brainer: 📈 Revenue from monthly giving jumped by 6% last year, making up 31% of all online revenue. 💪 Monthly donors give 42% more than one-time donors. 🔁 They also have an impressive 87% retention rate! But don’t just slap a “monthly” option on your donation form. A successful program needs strategy: 1. Branding: Create a unique name and look for your program. 2. Benefits: Offer exclusive perks like event invites or cool swag. 3. Exclusivity: Give them early access to news and updates. 4. Retention: Show the impact of their donations regularly. 5. Technology: Use tools that prioritize recurring donations ( 👋 hey, that's us!). Email is key to engaging and retaining your monthly donors. Craft compelling messages, make sign-ups simple, and celebrate donor milestones. Katelyn dives into more detail on this topic in our latest blog - a great jumping off point for any nonprofit looking to launch (or tune-up) their recurring giving. 🔎 Which takes longer: Finding Waldo or where to give on your nonprofit's website? 🔎 One of the easiest ways that you can jumpstart your website's conversion efficiency is to add a "Donate" button to your homepage (typically as the main CTA in the top right hand corner of the home page - example in the comments) It's such a core part of a high-performing nonprofit website and a critical part to a donor-centric journey. Just how much impact does a "Donate" button on your homepage have, though? ➡️ According to our friends over at NextAfter, nonprofits that added a donation button to their main homepage saw a 190% increase in donor conversions. That's a huge jump - especially when you factor in the traffic that goes through your nonprofit website. Key Takeaway: Adding a "donate" CTA button on your website is one of the most impactful things things you can do today. Looking for more wins for your nonprofit's website? Our own Adam O'Brien and Nathan Hill from NextAfter are hosting a live event this Thursday, focused on helping nonprofits get real-time insight on donation page optimizations. Jump on the list and join the conversation: https://lnkd.in/gHvfwv-4 p.s. If you can’t make it this time, no worries. But if you want this recording for this topic, register so you’ll get it automatically after.
