6 Ways to Learn, advocate, and make a difference during Helen Keller DeafBlind Awareness Week! Here's how you can participate: 1️⃣ Deepen your understanding of the DeafBlind community. DeafBlindness refers to a combined hearing and vision loss. 2️⃣ Champion inclusion at work. DeafBlind Awareness Week is an excellent opportunity to discuss workplace inclusivity. Remind your employer that many accommodations are low or no-cost! 3️⃣ Advocate for digital accessibility. Everyone deserves equal access to digital spaces. Simple practices like adding alt text to images, using headings, and providing video transcripts are easy ways to improve accessibility. 4️⃣ Get involved. Write to your local government representatives and request a proclamation recognizing June 23rd-June 30th as DeafBlind Awareness Week. 5️⃣ Host a panel discussion. 🗓 Federal contractors and subcontractors have until July 1 to certify whether they have developed and maintained their annual affirmative action plans.
