2024 Trends in Identity Security Finally, we have a comprehensive survey on the state of identity security in 2024 courtesy of our good friends at the Identity Defined Security Alliance. Some interesting findings… - 22% of businesses now see managing and securing digital identities as their top security priority, up from 17% in 2023. - 57% of respondents consider managing identity sprawl a significant focus. - 84% of identity stakeholders reported incidents directly impacted their business, with significant impacts on core business distractions (52%) and cost of breach recovery. - The most significant challenges in identity security are complex technology environments (38%) and insufficient budgets (38%). Complex technology environments should be translated as an ecosystem of highly diverse applications, many of which don’t support critical identity standards like SSO or SCIM for lifecycle management, e.g., joiners, movers, and leavers. If all your apps supported these critical identity standards, your environment would not be nearly as complex.
