Last month, IDEA celebrated a momentous event, Pitch-A-Thon 2024: The Beanpot of Ventures! In a first-of-its-kind format, IDEA: Northeastern University's Venture Accelerator was proud to partner with 10 esteemed universities across Greater Boston, including Northeastern University, Boston University, Boston College, Babson College, Bentley University, Harvard University, Tufts University, Suffolk University, Wentworth Institute of Technology, and Emerson College. This collaboration supported underrepresented undergraduate founders in securing their first funding rounds. In this energy-filled event, we had +400 attendees, +$10,000 in cash prizes, and Yvonne Hao, Secretary of Economic Development for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as the keynote speaker. From medical devices to tutoring platforms, film distribution, and more, we were inspired by the range of industries from these ventures. We celebrated this milestone with skyline sunset views of Boston in East Village on the Northeastern Boston campus and proudly showcased the women’s and men’s Beanpot trophies before the stage. As our night ended, we reflected on the importance of cross-university collaboration and supportiveness. Pitch-A-Thon 2024 is a culmination of the Boston startup ecosystem, and we are proud to have brought this story to life.
