Hi. We’re Swordfish, a motion design studio based in San Francisco. Our team of directors, designers, animators, and technologists work with direct clients and ad agencies to design memorable pictures in motion. We are fearless storytellers, focused motion design innovators, and forward-thinking marketing professionals. When you need to move something, we’re here to help.

In case you missed this: A few days ago, Microsoft Research Labs gave us all a peak into their project VASA — hyper realistic Gen AI talking head videos, created from a single image and a narrative script. Incredible. This sample below created from the thumbnail at bottom-left (itself AI Generated via Dal-E), a sample script, and manually set parameters for inflection, head roll, etc. Check other examples here: https://lnkd.in/dc2sD2cr
Our man in the field, Anthony Abbott , representing us hard at NAB Show this year. Seen here with Unreal Wizards and part-time Timelords Matt Milstead (center) and Jon Nee Jags (right). Remember, nothing really stays in Vegas lads. We find out everything. Everything.
Congrats to Colin and his team at Lucid Motors! We're super proud to have helped Lucid with the initial prototyping of their motion design UX system for Lucid Air. #iBelieveInSwordifsh #iBelieveInLucid
We’ve known the work we’re doing at Lucid Motors is world-class, but it’s nice to have some hardware to back it up! Lucid has become the first auto manufacturer ever to win a prestigious iF Design Gold Award for User Experience. To put the win in perspective, know that there were only 75 gold winners from 10,000 global entries from 100 countries in 140 categories. We join winners with names that are synonymous for great design such as Apple, Sony, Braun, and Bosch and we bested competitors including great entries from Samsung, BMW, LG, Lotus, Kia, Phillips, Nokia, Ericsson, and IBM. This is a huge win for our team and I’m very grateful at the opportunity to contribute to part of it. Plus, we’re not done yet…
Are sizzle reels still a thing? We don’t really know for sure, but the one we had was beginning to show its age — so we made a new one anyway. And here it is; 180 secs of our best work (well, best of what we’re allowed to show) completed over the last couple/three years — give or take. See if you can spot the AI generated pieces.
Some topics should frequently be revisited. Which is why, today, we celebrate our very own Eddy Katt and her work on the short, animated, documentary film “Reeducated”, which used immersive technology for a unique experience into China’s detention camps of Uyghurs and other minorities in Xinjiang. Reeducated was released in 2021, but it is still every bit as powerful today, as it was then. If you’ve not yet seen this highly acclaimed animated short, you can watch the Emmy and Peabody Award winning film at the link below. #VR #MotionGFX #Documentary #ImmersiveDesign https://lnkd.in/gbnRXQa3

We're so proud to be recognized by Maxon for our recently completed large-format ceiling display experiences designed for MSC Cruises: Europa and Euribia. The article is a good read and shares details of the assignment scope, along with our approach, process, and workflow. https://lnkd.in/g2CkRQmr #Maxon #OOH #Billboard #CGIart #MotionGFX
#ThrowbackThursday another clip of rendered ambient art created for MSC Cruises aboard the #MSCEuribia. This clip is from the Shimmering Light series. Underwater dreamscapes pierced by rays of light reveal schooling and flocking sea creatures. These ambient, aquatic animations are designed to run in 10 minute loops on large-format floor-to-ceiling displays. #MSCCruises #OOH #Billboard #CGIart #MotionGFX
#ThrowbackThursday – This piece was created for our Nebula series, which is featured inside the MSC Cruises retail store aboard the #MSCEuribia.
