Announcing our third Fire-Rescue International 2024 general session speaker! Join us at FRI on Friday, August 16th, to hear Kristina Moon of the William "Billy" Moon Foundation tell her story and share the journey that led her from the grief of loss to the inspiration of legacy – all in honor of her late husband, FDNY firefighter Billy Moon. Kristina is an organ donation advocate, educator, and expert who has helped countless people face the "hard conversations" surrounding death and end-of-life planning. Her foundation has provided support to donor families and recipients alike, bringing deep compassion and firsthand expertise to an otherwise disorienting process. Mrs. Moon will share the story of her husband and his devoted spirit of service – both before and after his sudden passing during a station training accident in 2022. Attendees will also learn how first responders can play a uniquely powerful role in advocating for organ donation among the general public. A huge thank you to ESCI for sponsoring this session! We hope to see you there. Register for FRI here: https://buff.ly/3z0aSbl

NEWS FROM THE HILL: The Improving Access to Emergency Medical Services for Seniors Act (H.R. 8977) would improve care for our increasing senior population AND reduce the overload placed on ER staff across the country. Our organization is a strong supporter of any bipartisan efforts to address the major and growing problem of accessible senior care in the U.S.A. In a release published by Congressman Mike Carey, IAFC President Butler called the proposal a "win-win" for patients and emergency services alike. Read his full quote here:

The Fire-Rescue International conference is one month out, and we're excited to announce our second general session speaker. A big thank you to our sponsors at FirstDue for making this session possible! Join us in Hall E of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on August 15th to hear from Steve Wirth, a nationally recognized attorney and consultant who helps fire departments and EMS agencies navigate risk in an increasingly unforgiving legal climate. In his talk, Steve will explore the recent, tragic, and highly controversial Elijah McClain case. He'll share his personal experiences as an EMS & fire service attorney, then provide expertise on how to prevent incidents like the McClain case from occurring within your own department or agency. Check back in with us tomorrow and Friday to learn about our other general session speakers. Register for FRI here: https://buff.ly/3LgKIEj We'll see you in Dallas!
