She has had a disproportionate number of referrals that include individuals who navigate their social world differently than others, who have been diagnosed with autism, and whose behavior may make others uneasy or uncertain. Diving into the topic, she will cover general information on ASD and crime, carefully explain the difference between ASD and psychopathic behavior, and use research to identify factors that create greater and less risk in the population.

Advanced Application And Knowledge Of Executive Functioning: Clinical Focus June 17 9am-4pm, via Zoom This is an advanced course examining executive functioning difficulties in neurodivergent populations, including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. A framework that refocuses on the importance of self-regulation based on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs will be outlined, along with the essential precursors to emotional development. The impact of a skill deficit in the areas of executive functioning will be described through in-depth case studies, indicating how a relationship-based approaches addresses language and behaviors. In-depth clinical examples will explain the need for bottom-up developmental therapeutic interventions, as opposed to those that prioritize top-down consequence-based methods.
