What the New Overtime Rule Means for Workers👇 As of July 1st, most salaried workers earning less than $844 per week are now eligible for overtime pay. This change raises the salary level for FLSA overtime pay protections. The Federal Labor Standards Act (FLSA), established in 1938, aims to protect workers from exploitation and benefit families and communities. Although some workers are exempt, these protections prevent overwork and underpayment. On January 1st, 2025, the limit will rise to $1,128 per week, with updates every three years starting in 2027. Job duties will also impact overtime exemption status. Texas has successfully blocked the rule from applying to state employees.
