While women in general are underrepresented in leadership roles and corporate America, those least represented are Latina women. Despite being one of the largest sections of the workforce, Latina women make the least money of any demographic in the country, on average, only paid 62 cents for every dollar made by a white man. Marilyn A. founded Latinas & Power Corp as a way to bring Latina women together to share their experiences, elevate their voices, build strong networks, and navigate the changing workplace landscape together so that all women have opportunities in leadership. This week’s episode 126 of How Women Inspire Podcast is about elevating Latina voices! ➡ Follow How Women Lead ➡ Follow How Women Invest https://lnkd.in/eeWDhb3S #boarddiversity #executivewomen #howwomenlead #howwomeninspire #howwomeninvest

About us
How Women Invest is an early stage venture firm, and sister entity to How Women Lead, a professional network of over 14,000 women. We see that female founders are a force to be reckoned with and are part of an untapped venture capital landscape. We will invest in U.S. based, female-led and female-majority owned companies in most industry sectors. Unforgettable times with women board directors, leaders, investors & founders in Chicago! We spent time having fun building our community and holding a space for powerful and meaningful conversations, connecting with powerhouses like Melissa Widen, founder of First Women's Bank, Maria Doughty of The Chicago Network, board member Amalia S. Rioja, CEO of Healthy Communities Foundation, Maria Pesquiera, Marta Cerda, J.D., and corporate directors Racquel Harris, Violet Clark, Lori Igleski, and Stacie Selinger, asset allocator from GCM Grosvenor. The discussions were enlightening: - Driving Capital for Growth: Invest in women founders and fund managers to achieve the highest returns. - Reducing Risk & Increasing Performance: Diversify board composition with more women operators. - Solving Social Issues: Reduce capital extraction and support sustainable leadership in social impact organizations. We also had the pleasure to participate in and host an event during Chicago Tech Week. We brought together 100 dealmaking founders and investors, hosted by How Women Invest, Latinas in Tech, and BMO. Founders walked away with new mastermind groups, enhancing innovation and reducing isolation. Women VCs demystified the pitch process, helping many find the right venture partners. The culture of collaboration and support was the highlight of the night. Kudos to Aury Cifuentes for leading this incredible event and to Kimberley Goode for your partnership. Let's keep driving change and making impactful connections! #ChicagoLeadership #WomenInBusiness #TechWeek #HowWomenInvest #LatinasInTech #EconomicGrowth #DiversityInLeadership #SocialImpact Julie Castro Abrams

🌍 Bridging Innovation and Impact: World Food Forum & Narratize Partnership 🌍 Exciting developments in the fight against global hunger! The World Food Forum, a youth-led initiative by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization, is making strides toward ending world hunger by 2030 through innovative collaborations. Partnering with one of our portfolio companies Narratize, a storytelling AI platform, they are empowering researchers to transform complex ideas into compelling, fundable projects. This partnership is proving crucial in simplifying complex research data into engaging pitches that resonate with both specialists and the general public. In 2023, an impressive array of projects, including a groundbreaking study on food waste in Latin America and a biotechnology solution in Indonesia, were propelled to success thanks to clear, effective communication. Clear communication is not just about sharing an idea; it's about sharing it in a way that inspires action and opens doors to essential funding. This collaboration between the World Food Forum and Narratize is a powerful example of how precision in messaging can turn innovative research into real-world solutions. https://lnkd.in/g5Dc6TSM #Innovation #Sustainability #GlobalImpact Katie Trauth Taylor, PhD Catherine O'Shea
