Texas is among the United States' top states for business, according to an influential annual ranking, but it ranks dead last for "quality of life" for the second year in a row. The state has the best workforce in the nation, a healthy economy and a low cost of doing business, according to CNBC, propelling Texas to third overall in the financial network's annual analysis of America’s Top States for Business. Texas might have ranked higher but for the quality of life here, which CNBC said came in dead last when factoring in crime rates, health care, child care, air quality, worker protections, legal safeguards against discrimination and personal freedom, including reproductive rights. The state also "has power grid issues," the analysis noted.
