Please join us in saying CONGRATULATIONS 🎉 to Emma Diers, HJC's VISTA Tenant Organizer from 2022-23, for being named as a Student Writer for the Iowa Law Review! At HJC, Emma worked to build tenant associations with residents, create infrastructure for housing justice coalitions, and collect and summarize data from every city in Minnesota on manufactured home communities-work that is the basis of a mapping tool we are creating as a community resource. We know this is just one of what will be a long list of career and community achievements for Emma.

We are deeply disappointed by the U.S. Supreme Court decision issued today in the case of Grants Pass v. Johnson. People who experience homelessness should not be punished for society's failure to recognize the need for safe, stable, affordable, and dignified places for people to call home free from discriminatory barriers. Homelessness and housing insecurity are solvable. Criminalizing poverty creates further harm.
