Today was a great day! There's plenty of unknown out there. You have a vision. Most days will make you crazy. Punch to the gut. One after another. Every day there's a question if the vision can turn into a reality. Listen to intuition. Pen and paper by the bedside to jot down that middle-of-the-night inspiration. It's all been planned. Days, times, TTD - with purpose and passion. And then you have days like today. Meetings, calls, emails, and responses, confirming your vision and message are resonating with an industry. Digital marketing 🔥Medicare billing 🔥Virtual Reality Experiences 🔥Uniforms and Shoes 🔥Supplies 🔥Educational QR Codes and YouTube Channel 🔥New ways to start conversations with families and patients Oh my......... It's been a great day!!! #hospicepasscommunity #hospicepassnetwork

When we come across great blog posts, our intent is to share with the community that we're building. Thanks to Apreva Hospice for this blog post - "Food at End of Life" As stated in the post, families often equate food with love and nurturing. And this is true. When you have the flu or aren't feeling well, what do we do? Chicken noodle soup or the family's go to recipe that cures all. Hospice is different and educating, having the conversations, is critical. Recommend that you check out their Blog post. It's great and thank you again for sharing. https://lnkd.in/gmw9vfAr

It's 11pm, the O2 concentrator is beeping every 15 seconds and the red indicator light is flashing. The beeping noise is getting louder. The red light is flashing brighter. The daughter, that has the nightshift, wasn't there when your DME company dropped off. Who is she going to call? She's frazzled and getting anxious. She woke her oldest sister with a phone call asking what's going on and how to fix it. Her father is awake, uncomfortable and needs her to fix the problem now. "There's a folder on the kitchen table with a number - call that and they can help," the sister tells her. The folder is not on the kitchen table. It took 30 minutes to find the folder with the hospice info and phone number to call. There are four numbers listed, which one? It's now 11:45 pm. She calls the first number and she gets a voicemail. She leaves a message and still doesn't know what to do. Do I unplug the machine? Will that kill my Dad? What should I do? Tears start running down her cheek as the phone rings with a calming voice on the other side. It's the assigned hospice nurse asking how she can help. The daughter explains that the concentrator is not working, its beeping, red lights are flashing and her Dad is having problems. The nurse explains that this is simple to fix. "Turn the machine off, the button is on the top. Don't be alarmed this will not harm your father in any way." The nurse says, "Give it a minute" and asks, "besides being scared, how is your father otherwise." The daughter explains. "Now flip the switch back, give it a minute, everything sounds normal." The daughter, "still a bit frantic, asks why is this happening." The nurse explains, "sometimes this equipment does weird things, but be assured there is nothing to be alarmed about." "Is the light green on & the concentrator humming?" The daughter says, "yes." "OK, lets chat for a second more," the nurse says. The nurse asked where the concentrator is located. The daughter tells her that they pushed it against the wall in the corner and asks, "Why?" "Good to know & that may have been the issue," the nurse explains. "Those concentrators need ventilation in the back." "Can you move it away from the wall?" the nurse requests. "How's your Dad?" "He seems fine and appears that everything is back to normal," the daughter explains. "I apologize for the concentrator scaring you. It will be fine for the rest of the evening and I'll see you first thing in the morning," the nurse tells the daughter. "OK. Are you sure?" The nurse with absolute confidence says, "I'm sure, but if anything comes up please feel free to call or text me - that's what I'm here for." Does this situation sound familiar? New post released.......Why don't we ask? Scarlet will take her secret to the other side when the time comes. That secret - that magical green thumb. The reason for keeping the secret isn’t because she refuses to pass along this mysterious tidbit of wisdom. People have always complemented her beautiful gardens. The secret will remain because no one has ever asked how she does it. Not a soul. Scarlet grew up in the outskirts north of London. Her grandmother was a groundskeeper at the Cerney House Gardens, a romantic, secret place in the Cotswolds, near to Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. As a child Scarlet would wander through the gardens learning about the layered landscape of a proper English garden. She learned about the trees, the shrubs, the perennials and ground cover that made up this magnificent site. Begonias were her favorites. Her grandmother taught all the secrets of growing and maintaining this subtropical flower in this astute English garden. If you want to read the rest, subscribe at the link in the comments. Thanks to my new friend Lisa Pahl, LCSW and The Death Deck for allowing me to introduce them to our subscribers. Also - do you have a your #legacycontact set up? Links to make that happen as well. Appreciate the tons of emails and requests already. Doors are opening and a community is being built. #hospicecare #palliativecare #seniorcare #hospicenurse #deathdoula
