Two weeks ago, I spoke with David Johnson for KRLD’s “CEO Spotlight” podcast. During the duration of our quick conversation, we talked about the pandemic, staffing in different countries, AI, and more.  Here is the Q&A style breakdown of my episode, “Matching jobs and people in 10 offices across 4 countries”: ❓ Q: How did the pandemic impact global staffing? 💥 A: The pandemic opened up opportunities globally, since more employees were introduced to remote opportunities. As we worked through the pandemic, companies got used to having employees in various locations, which then made it reasonable to have employees all around the world. The pandemic fast-tracked us into the age of a global talent pool.  ❓ Q: The staffing industry is fast-moving and can change overnight. How do you keep up with matching people with the right skills to companies looking to hire, or do companies prefer to hire on their own? 💥 A:  Mature enterprise companies adopt "total talent management," covering employees, contingent workers, and outsourced firms, each needing tailored strategies. They recruit college graduates for internal roles and run associate programs. For major initiatives, rapid market entry, or new technologies, they seek experienced professionals. Success hinges on managing all these aspects, and that's where we come in to help. ❓ Q: How is AI going to disrupt the IT and staffing market? 💥 A: Staffing Industry Analysts predict a 9% growth in hiring over the next 3 years because of AI. This demand requires companies to figure out how to incorporate AI in their organizations, and how to make it meaningful, which creates demand for data scientists, engineers, and more. AI will boost productivity at Horizontal in many ways.
