When asked what the biggest takeaway was from the Leadership Institute, director of furniture at Nebraska Furniture Mart and class of 2024 Leadership Institute alumni, Shane Pohlman, said, "the importance of vision." Earlier this year, Shane was presented with the Home Furnishings Association - HFA's Emerging Star award. This award is given to someone with an increasing influence in the industry. We're super proud to see our Leadership Institute alumni continue to thrive. Way to go Shane!

One of our 2024 Inductees is Thomas Day. Day was born as a free Black man in 1801, before the Civil War. He navigated the transition from rural individual cabinet making to standardized parts and manufacturing processes. In 1827, he purchased a warehouse in Milton, N.C., where he promoted his case goods and upholstery, advertised outside his community, installed steam power to mechanize production and purchased hardwood forests to supply his own lumber. That warehouse in Milton was just recognized by the City of North Carolina as a historic site. We are looking forward to honoring him, and the other inductees, in October. Visit the Thomas Day State Historic Site's Facebook page to learn more about Thomas Day and his legacy. https://lnkd.in/es8XRB3m

Employee Spotlight 🌟 Meet Lauren Estep! Lauren is the Executive Vice President of the American Home Furnishings Hall of Fame. She has been with us for over 17 years. Watching this organization grow into an institution that honors our industry's leaders, preserves our history, inspires the next generation of leaders and now has a home to teach the world about the home furnishings industry has been the most rewarding part of her job. Lauren is based in Texas where she lives with her husband, two kids and their collie Julep. If she could choose to have a superpower, she'd pick flying as it would make her commute to High Point even more seamless. There isn't a day that goes by that Lauren's commitment to the Hall of Fame goes unnoticed. We are so thankful to have her on our team.

Employee Spotlight🌟 Meet Eli Hargett, our A/V Tech Manager at the Hall of Fame. If you've been to the Hall or booked an event with us, you've probably seen Eli making sure the audio, visuals and all things technology related run smoothly. Thank you Eli, for all you do. We're grateful to have you on our team! When he's not making our tech run flawlessly, you can find him playing his saxophone, while his partner accompanies him on the piano. On weekends, you might find Eli diving into a new car project, always eager to learn and build something new. #EmployeeSpotlight #AVTech #BehindTheScenes #HallofFame
