About us

Hinds Hospice, founded by Nancy Hinds, R.N., provides expert end-of-life hospice medical care in Fresno, Madera, and Merced counties, since 1981. OUR MISSION The mission of Hinds Hospice is to uphold the dignity and ease the suffering of the terminally ill while supporting their loved ones, and those who are grieving. OUR PHILOSOPHY Through our services and with a strong social conscience we believe in: -Striving to provide comfort, hope and companionship on their sacred journey by affirming their dignity and honoring the wishes of both the patient and the family. -Maintaining a community of respect and support for our staff and volunteers. -Responding to the critical need for education on end-of-life issues. -Sharing our hearts and experience with those having the greatest of needs throughout the global community. OUR PROGRAMS Hinds Hospice operates the only freestanding six-bed hospice home in Fresno, Madera, and Merced Counties. When patients' symptoms become too complicated to be cared for in their home, the Hinds Hospice home in Fresno offers around-the-clock nursing care. The Hinds Hospice Center for Grief and Healing is unique in that it serves not only hospice families, but also the community at large with grief support services. We offer one-on-one grief counseling, group support specific to the type of loss, monthly grief mailings, or someone to listen on the phone. The news of an unborn baby being diagnosed with a life-limiting condition is heartbreaking. Angel Babies offers a perinatal hospice program designed for families who have received this diagnosis, offering support and comfort during pregnancy and providing ideas for creating loving memories. Children require different care than adults, so our innovative pediatric hospice program allows for concurrent treatment along with hospice services. "Celebrating Life's Shining Moments," the Hinds Hospice Gala held Sept. 8 at the Clovis Veterans Memorial District, received some positive attention in a Central Valley lifestyle magazine this month. CVLUX Magazine, a Central Valley-based "high style" publication that highlights events throughout the Valley, includes an article and photo gallery recapping our 2023 Gala in its October 2023 issue. The article highlights how the Gala supports the Hinds Hospice mission, and includes a gallery of photos shot by Marketing and Community Relations Manager Rob Walker. The photos feature a number of Hinds Hospice staff members and supporters, including our Founder, Nancy Hinds. The CVLUX article can be viewed online at https://lnkd.in/gqFXDgmM Our thanks go to CVLUX Magazine for its complimentary coverage of the 2023 Hinds Hospice Gala!

Today is World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, an occasion when the world observes the importance of providing care and relief of pain for the terminally ill and their families. Hinds Hospice expresses our sincere gratitude to all who have helped or supported us in providing that care and relief for more than 40 years. Our mission remains to uphold the dignity and ease the suffering of the terminally ill, while supporting their loved ones and those who are grieving.   On World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, Hinds Hospice reaffirms our commitment to promoting hospice care across the globe, especially in areas with few resources. One way Hinds Hospice works to accomplish this is through our partnership with Hospice Africa, a pioneer in bringing hospice and palliative care to a vastly underserved region of south-central Africa, in Uganda.   Hinds Hospice has a strong connection and a long history of working with Hospice Africa. Earlier this year, a Hinds Hospice team traveled to Uganda to see – and to learn from -- how Hospice Africa brings relief of pain and suffering to so many at the end of life. Their work reminds us all of the universal need for hospice and palliative care, and shows us how the practice of and education about such care can transform the end-of-life journey for generations to come.   With the assistance of philanthropic funding, and with the goals of providing care and educating doctors and medical staff on the practice of hospice and palliative care, Hinds Hospice has committed to increasing the financial support of Hospice Africa at its sites in Kampala, Hoima and Mbarara, Uganda. Additionally, our CEO Eric Klimes, and Kathy Cromwell, Executive Director of the Center for Grief & Healing, recently joined the Hospice Africa USA Board of Directors, encouraging hospice organizations nationwide to support these humanitarian efforts.   The goal is to relieve the pain and suffering of the terminally ill and their families around the globe. We express our sincerest gratitude for your support.
