As Teacher Appreciation Week comes to an end, we know there will never be enough words to thank our incredible team of educators. They are compassionate, patient, and loving. We celebrate them and their commitment today and every day. #teacherappreciationweek

On Saturday, three of our staff members volunteered at BookSpring to support their annual Bookspring Fest - A Read Aloud Celebration. They helped set up for the event and ran the game booths. BookSpring is a fellow non-profit that has support Hillside in the past and we feel very honored to be able to return the favor.

We DID it, early childhood education advocates! Together, we not only met, but EXCEEDED our $100k goal! We had an out of this world evening at Hillside Under the Stars last Friday -- with delicious food, fun music, exciting raffle and auction items, curated cocktails and meaningful conversation. Our hearts are filled with gratitude for all of those who helped to make this evening a huge success. The success of this fundraiser means that we can continue to build our community, ensuring that ALL children have access to education that creates a foundation for success throughout their educational careers and childcare that leads with love. #huts2024

Hillside Early Childhood Center is an incredible place that lives and breathes its mission every single day. It is a place that believes that all children should have access to high quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background. A place that believes that children learn through exploring, investigating, and questioning. It is a place that I have been honored to be a part of for over five years. I am extremely grateful to not only work here, but to also have my daughter here. As a non-profit, it is crucial that we fundraise to support our classrooms and to pay our teachers a competitive, livable wage. In exactly two weeks on April 19th, we will be hosting our annual fundraiser, Hillside Under the Stars.  It's a picnic dinner, with view of downtown Austin with live music, raffle, and so much more!! As a working mother, the childcare shortage especially hits home as I consider the other families unable to find affordable, quality childcare so they might work outside of the home if they choose. We must do more to support the teachers and wonderful humans who help make it all happen and families who need more affordable, quality access. I am extremely grateful my two children attend Hillside Early Childhood Center in the East Riverside neighborhood which is located in a childcare desert. Hillside is the only 4 Star accredited Texas Rising Star center in Austin that accepts workforce families. About 20% of our families are on scholarship or reduced tuition. Also, the waitlist is 175 families!!! The need is SO high!   One thing you can do today to help our non-profit early childhood center is to support our annual fundraising event called Hillside Under the Stars on Friday, April 19. 🌟 Meet Sophia, our lead preschool teacher in the Daisy Classroom. “My favorite thing about being with the Daisies is watching them grow every day! Play is a powerful and important activity. In our classroom the children are able to learn through play, whether it is playing dress ups, constructing grand designs with building blocks, singing songs, telling stories, playing with recycled materials, or having fun outside! There is nothing more inspiring than to see a child who has mastered a new skill or conquered a challenge!"
