Manufacturing jobs account for nearly 15% of the workforce with wages on that are on average $20,000 than all other sectors. 2. Revenue Generation: Enhanced economic activity leads to increased tax revenue for local governments, enabling investments in public services, infrastructure, and community development projects. In Henderson County, only 1% of all land is industrial, but industry contributes to nearly 30% of the tax base and only receives 12% of services. Manufacturing pays the bills! 3. Quality of Life Improvements: Economic growth attracts businesses and amenities, enriching the local community with diverse shopping, dining, and entertainment options, thereby enhancing residents' overall quality of life. The model estimates that every $5 million in manufacturing facility construction investment spurs another $2.6 million in statewide spending 4. Community Stability: Economic development contributes to community stability by diversifying the local economy, reducing dependency on specific industries or employers, and creating resilience against economic downturns. This helps to sustain growth and prosperity over the long term. It is preservation of a tax base that keeps taxes low for citizens. 5. Talent Retention and Attraction: A robust economy provides opportunities for skill development and career advancement, attracting and retaining talented individuals, which contributes to a dynamic and skilled workforce essential for sustained economic growth. Even when unemployment is low, it is important to continue to market for future growth opportunities for citizens to assure if there is a downturn, the highest and best industries are still in the community offering good paying jobs.

It’s National Apprenticeship Week! The Made in Henderson County apprenticeship was flagship program around 2018 that created more apprenticeship programs in our community. Today 115 students worked through career readiness documents, heard from employers, and got more details on their apprenticeship program interest. Emily Crowley Martin, MPA played a pivotal role in creating the event along with Blue Ridge Community College and Henderson County Public Schools. Shoutout to our rockstar board member Everett Lynch for sharing resume tips and Elkamet Inc. for helping with interview skills.

We love watching our partners grow! Congrats IMOCO, Inc. on the steady transition.
We are very excited to announce that effective October 1st, 2023, Geoff & Angela Bagwell are the new owners of IMOCO, Inc.! You may be aware aware that Rodney Pressley has been transitioning into Retirement since 2019. He agreed to sell the company to Geoff Bagwell, an employee with IMOCO for the past 35 years, and Angela Bagwell, his daughter. Geoff started out with IMOCO, Inc. in 1989 as a Millwrights Helper at the Kimberly Clark Plant. His hard work showed, and he was eventually moved into our Sheet Metal Shop which allowed him more advancement within the company. Over the course of the next 30 years, he grew with IMOCO and continued to move his way through the different positions within the shops, field, and management. In 2017 Geoff became the Director of Operations where he managed our day-to-day operations and procedures. With his dedication and commitment to the organization and its employees, he has not only increased business and profits over the past years, but also kept the company open & running during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic while continuing to earn profits for the years. He has proven himself as a strong leader of IMOCO, Inc. and has worked hard to keep the company thriving. Angela Bagwell is a Retired Elementary School Teacher and the wife of Geoff Bagwell. She has 30 + years of IMOCO, Inc. history and knowledge from standing beside Rodney & Geoff. Her understanding of the company and its internal workings will help her to guide us into the future and continue to keep us growing and strong. #wncbiz #hendersonvillenc #ashevillenc #avlnews #lovehendo #hendersoncounty #pisgahforest #brevardnc #greenvillesc #yeahthatgreenville #upstatesc
