We will continue to promote exchange and cooperation with research institutions in Israel and in the region, because we believe that only through dialogue and within the framework of an open and international scientific community we can collectively tackle the pressing problems of our time. 🇺🇸🇪🇺🇩🇪 The second Transatlantic Big Science Conference -co-organized by Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron DESY and Carnegie Science - is underway! After the successful inaugural event in Washington DC in 2022, we are now hosting 150 participants from the U.S. and all over Europe in Berlin. Over the next two days, we will discuss scientific topics of mutual relevance and cooperation opportunities in fields such as bio-preparedness, quantum technologies, AI and renewable energy materials. Cross-cutting policy topics such as research security, open science and science communication are also on the agenda. Maintaining and strengthening our outstanding connections with U.S. partners such as the National Labs under the stewardship of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is a key priority for the research centers of the Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft. Bundesforschungsministerin Bettina Stark-Watzinger ist in Israel eingetroffen. In Tel Aviv tauscht sie sich über #KI und Innovation aus. Außerdem stehen auf dem Programm: ▶️ das deutsch-israelische Minerva-Zentrum für Menschenrechte ▶️ ein Austausch mit Teilnehmerinnen und Teilnehmern der „German Studies Conference“ an der Uni Tel Aviv ▶️ ein Treffen mit führenden Vertretern der israelischen Wissenschaftsgemeinschaft ▶️ Gespräche mit jungen israelischen und deutschen Forscherinnen und Forschern aus Forschungsprojekten der Helmholtz-Gemeinschaft an israelischen Forschungsinstituten und Universitäten. Mit der Reise bekräftigt Bundesministerin Stark-Watzinger erneut sowohl ihre Solidarität mit Israel als auch die Bedeutung der deutsch-israelischen Zusammenarbeit in Wissenschaft und Forschung.
