Sensorion announces positive data from the SENS-401 Phase 2a clinical trial, focusing on preserving residual hearing in adults post-cochlear implantation. 👂 Six weeks post-implantation, treated patients showed a mean hearing loss induced by the surgery of 19dB at 500 Hz compared to 32 dB in the control group, with similar improvements at other frequencies. 📈 The positive effects of SENS-401 were maintained up to 14 weeks post-implantation. 💊 SENS-401 (Arazasetron) is an orally available small molecule designed to protect and preserve inner ear tissue. According to the company, full final data release is planned for Q3 2024. #hearingloss #therapeutics #biotech #cochlearimplants #hearinghealth Nawal Ouzren Geraldine Honnet Cochlear https://lnkd.in/gNKs26F7

The newly published study in JAMA Otolaryngology, built upon an earlier study from 2023 which found that self-fitted Lexie Lumen OTC hearing aids offered the same benefits as audiologist-fitted aids after six weeks of use. The updated research shows that both OTC and audiologist-fitted hearing aid users experienced similar benefits after eight months, reinforcing the effectiveness and value of OTC hearing products. #hearingaids #audiology hearX Group De Wet Swanepoel Vinaya Manchaiah https://lnkd.in/gwqHvExY

Researchers from MIT, Harvard, and Columbia have developed the UmboMic, a tiny implantable microphone. A tiny 3×3 mm triangular motion sensor made from polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF), a biocompatible piezoelectric material. This sensor, designed for implantable applications, performs on par with commercial external hearing aid microphones. #tech #audio #audiology #otolaryngology #cochlearimplants #hearingloss https://lnkd.in/g4XUpcvw
