I was honored to join an insightful panel last week at the Health Care Administrators Association (HCAA) TPA Summit in St. Louis, discussing 'Leveraging Actionable Insights in the New Price Transparent Healthcare Marketplace.' With Derek Spearing, Justin Curtis, and Paul Forte, we agreed that we’re just beginning to unlock immense industry potential. Huge thanks to Carol Berry, CSFS, Kirti Mutatkar, and Ramesh Kumar for a phenomenal summit and the invitation. Proud to represent how Healthcare Management Administrators is tackling this opportunity in our markets. The future of healthcare is bright!

  • At HMA, we prioritize the health and financial well-being of self-funded employers and their employees.  This summer, protect your employees from costly urgent care visits and emergencies with these simple and effective summer safety tips: 1. Stay Hydrated Encourage employees to drink plenty of water, especially whenever they are spending time outdoors. This helps prevent dehydration and heat-related illnesses. 2. Use Sun Protection Even on cloudy days, it's important to protect our skin against the sun's harmful UV rays. Encourage your employees to wear sunscreen and protective clothing like sunglasses and hats, to keep their skin safe from the sun. Keep in mind that clouds do not fully block UV rays. Even on cloudy days, there is still a potential for sunburn. A broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of at least 30 or higher is recommended. 🌤 3. Practice Water Safety Water-related accidents and emergencies increase during the summer. Remind your employees to practice water safety habits when swimming, boating, or participating in water activities. They should wear life jackets, closely supervise children near water, and be aware of potential dangers including cold weather temperatures and strong currents. 4. Use Bug Repellent It's important to take precautions against bugs that are common in your region. Advise your employees to use insect repellent to ward off mosquitoes, ticks, and other biting insects. Wearing long-sleeved shirts, long pants, and socks when the weather permits can also help minimize exposed skin. Employees should avoid areas with stagnant water where mosquitoes breed and check themselves and their pets for ticks after spending time outdoors. 5. Wear Protective Gear Remind employees to wear safety gear such as helmets, life jackets, and protective gear whenever biking, swimming, or playing sports. This helps reduce the risk of serious injuries or accidents. Keep costly urgent care visits and emergencies at bay this summer by sharing these summer safety tips with your team! #EmployeeSafety #UVSafetyAwarenessMonth #SummerSafety

  • Summer is finally here and holidays and outdoor fun are right around the corner. Did you know that July is UV Safety Awareness Month? Even on cloudy days when the sun may not be visible, up to 90% of UV rays can still penetrate through the clouds. This is why it is important to apply sunscreen before heading outdoors. ⛅ Here at HMA we are eagerly embracing the change in weather and are excited to dive into the third quarter of the year. With the sunny week ahead, what are you most excited for this summer? #UVSafetyAwarenessMonth #SummerSafety
