Lennox-Gastaut syndrome is a severe form of #epilepsy that usually begins in early childhood before the age of 4 years old. People living with #LennoxGastaut syndrome may experience frequent #seizures mixed with seizure-free periods, along with other symptoms such as developmental delays or impaired intellectual functioning. Unfortunately, the cause of Lennox-Gastaut syndrome is not always known. #rarediseases #neuroscience

Fragile X syndrome (#FXS) is a rare genetic condition that impacts an estimated 80,000 people in the U.S. Fragile X Awareness Month (#FXSMonth), led by the National Fragile X Foundation, is an important effort to support people with Fragile X syndrome and their families/caregivers by raising much needed awareness, education, and research. #FragileX syndrome is a rare genetic condition caused by a full mutation in the FMR1 gene located on the X chromosome that causes intellectual disability, anxiety, behavioral and learning challenges, and various physical characteristics. Understanding the symptoms of #FXS may help when discussing the diagnosis with your doctor.
