Today we celebrate the naming ceremonies of our newest vessels, the “Singapore Express,” at the Port of Tuas, in Singapore and the “Iquique Express” at the New Times Shipyard, in China. 🎉 In Singapore, over 230 distinguished guests joined us for this momentous occasion, including our esteemed patron, Dr. Yeo May May, and Mr. Ong Kim Pong, Group CEO of PSA International. The ceremony was honored by the presence of the German Ambassador to Singapore and Senior Parliamentary Secretary Mr. Baey from the Ministry of Transport, further reinforcing our strong partnerships. A traditional Lion Dance added an unforgettable touch, welcoming our guests and setting the tone for a truly special event. 🐲 We extend our heartfelt wishes to the captains and crew members of the “Singapore Express” and “Iquique Express”, fair winds, calm seas, and safe sailings on their voyages ahead! 🚢 #HapagLloyd #SingaporeExpress #IquiqueExpress #NamingCeremony

Everyone on deck, aboard our “Hanoi Express”! 🚢 Step onto the bridge, our vessel’s command center. The officer of the watch typically oversees operations here, assisted by a lookout. During challenging maneuvers, the captain remains present. Navigating entry and exit at certain ports can be quite the challenge, which is why a marine pilot joins the master of the vessel on the bridge to help safely navigate through the waterways. Have you ever been on the bridge of a container vessel? 🤔 What did you think? 👇 📸: Oliver Kühne #hapaglloyd #container #shipping #lifeatsea #bridge

Captain Rössler and his crew shared an interesting nautical manoeuvre with us, showing that climate protection starts on a small scale. The "Manila Express" was on its way from Algeciras to Singapore, however the planned arrival had to be postponed as the port was congested. Over six days, the vessel drifted 249 nautical miles (462 km) with an average speed of 1.7kn/ 3.1 km/h north-east hardly without generating emissions. 👉 Read more: https://hl.ag/tgy #hapaglloyd #hlfamily #lookout

Do you know what MARPOL is? 🤓 It’s the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from ships. Adopted in 1973 by the International Maritime Organization, it’s the main international convention focusing on the prevention of pollution of the marine environment by vessels. Just as SOLAS sets out the minimum standards for safety at sea, MARPOL does the same for environmental protection. The convention consists of six annexes to ensure the marine environment is protected from pollution and toxic substances. It lays out the requirements for stowing, handling, shipping, and transferring hazardous waste.
