Hacin is an interdisciplinary architecture and design studio located in Boston’s South End. Since its founding in 1993, the firm’s dedicated team of design professionals has built a broad portfolio of projects that have received regional, national, and international recognition. Led by David J. Hacin, FAIA, in partnership with the firm's principals, our interdisciplinary team of architects, interior designers, and graphic designers collaborate on residential, housing, commercial, retail, hospitality, and adaptive reuse projects. Our Oyster Pond project, originally constructed in 1850 on a high bluff overlooking the water, has been named the recipient of a 2024 Chatham Preservation award. During the home's renovation, the historic farmhouse was largely preserved, with a glass connector linking the original structure to a new, 2-story contemporary addition that draws upon the surrounding vernacular and coastal aesthetic. Congratulations to Rapt Studio on a wonderful Interior Design Magazine feature, highlighting the top floor of 140 New Montgomery Street in San Francisco! Back in 2008, Hacin principal Rob Clocker worked on the restoration and rehabilitation of this 1920s art deco building with a previous firm, including the preservation of the plaster ceilings shown in the feature. We're glad to see this beautiful building's history continued!

We are so excited to see our Oyster Pond project published in the Spring/Summer 2024 issue of Chatham Living! Shoutout to Chatham Living Magazine for hosting a great launch party! This amazing project involved the historic preservation of the original 19th century residence with the construction of a contemporary two-story addition. Much of the existing home was preserved, the floor plan was reconfigured, saving select elements such as wide-pine floors and a brick fireplace. The new addition was linked to the original house by a glass connector. Expansive glass windows, a wood ceiling, and brick piers were used to anchor the space. The project scope also included the construction of a new outbuilding, demolishing an existing, non-historic garage to create a poolside barn that provides additional living and bedroom spaces.
