We are pleased to announce that H Venture Partners received the maximum award of $10MM in Matching Funds from the State of Ohio for H Venture Partners Brand Fund II, which is anchored by Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund. This brings the target $20MM raise to an oversubscribed $22MM Fund II - and counting! This brings us to over $40MM under management. Over 70 firms submitted RFPs: We were one of 11 to receive an award. We were one of only two new firms to receive an award - the others were existing partners of the State of Ohio (CincyTech, Jumpstart, etc).  We are the only female-owned firm to receive an award.  According to the Treasury 38% of the funds from the State of Ohio are to be targeted for underrepresented founders and funds (female, minority, etc). To date, 99% of our invested capital has been invested with diverse founding teams: female, Black, Hispanic, and LGBTQ+ led. Our funds are focused on biotechnologies that can be embedded into consumer products to modulate the microbiome, fight multi-drug-resistant bacteria without resistance, eliminate plastic, and reverse climate change. At H Venture Partners, we are "Investing in a Beautiful Life." Now, with the help of the Ohio Department of Development, Ohio Third Frontier, and the US Treasury, we will be able to double the effect of our investment dollars to back diverse founders who are creating products that are better for human health and the environment.

The Venture Capital world is in for a diversity reckoning: California just passed a law that will require almost every US VC to report the diversity of its founders on an annual basis or face serious fines and possible litigation. This is an incredible step forward in transparency. I have to commend the bill sponsor, Senator Nancy Skinner, and the ten co-authors of California Senate Bill 54 as well as Governor Newsom for the work they've done to shine a light on diversity in venture capital.
