The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) put into effect a new regulation directing oil field operators to regularly audit methane leaks. In order to achieve this goal, oil companies need a way to continuously monitor these leaks, which is why a team of co-founders launched XD Sensor. With co-founders spread from Cary to Greensboro, the startup creates oil field sensors that can detect methane, which is a major greenhouse gas that is responsible for nearly a third of global warming. Epistamai’s CEO and Founder Chris Lam is working on algorithms and models that, hopefully, will improve people’s trust in AI systems. The models aim to reduce bias and discrimination in credit decisions and may eventually impact other industries as well. After getting a taste of the world of entrepreneurship, NC State alum Tyler Maloney went on to earn his MBA from Stanford, found three companies, and raise over $20 million. He is now the CEO of his newest venture, TeachMe.To, which works to expand access to sports and reduce the challenge of finding lessons from expert coaches and facilities. These efforts are not going unnoticed, as TeachMe.To has been backed by notable investors—one being Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI. ➡️ https://t.ly/Aumf9

Through a survey process, Robert Wilson and his eventual co-founder Troy Blaylock found that many commuters at NC A&T waited more than 20 minutes before finding a parking space. Others reported waiting for up to two hours. Determined to address the problem, Wilson and Blaylock designed a platform that would help commuters find parking and provide parking administrators with analytics. Enter: Parking Pin. ➡️ https://t.ly/kVVvp
