The 12th F-16 fighter jet has been manufactured at the Lockheed Martin facility at the South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center (formerly Donaldson Center) in Greenville County. As the "Global Home" of the F-16, Lockheed Martin’s Greenville County production line provides advanced capabilities to allies for peacekeeping and defense missions amid challenging global conditions. There is currently a production queue of 128 F-16s to be produced in Greenville County for international partners. Earlier this month, the company delivered the 4,600th F-16, a testament to the continued relevance of the aircraft over five decades. The Greenville County facility has been operational since 1984 and has had an economic impact of over $1.3 billion in South Carolina. The facility has also generated high skill jobs for the area and currently employs over 1,800 people, including a highly skilled team of aviation technicians, engineers, program managers and other experienced personnel. “1 in 4 employees have served or are serving in the armed forces,” says a Lockheed Martin Spokesperson, “that underscores the crucial role that the Greenville production line plays in national security and global defense.” #f16 #aviation #MadeinGreenvilleCounty #SCTAC #LockheedMartin
